Call this thing now and we can all get home in time to see Melrose Place

I honestly struggle to give a damn. It's NAB Challenge and, it's still cricket season.
Unfortunately, apparently the rest of the competition thinks that the NAB challenge is the most important series of games ever, completely forgetting how much contempt it has been shown by the competition for the last 3 or 4 years.

I still don't really understand what is happening but surely the players who are not part of the tribunal hearing play with the top ups coming from our VFL list?

Would love to get a look at Coghlan for example. Marigliani and Polkinghorne would also be physically capable. Tippa would be good for a couple of extraordinary things. It would be interesting to see how players like Hickey and Schroder adapt to the pace.

I don't buy into the solidarity argument at all. Anonymity is not hindered because we know which players are before the tribunal. As many players should be playing as possible. It's a good opportunity to get a look at some players we might not otherwise have been able to see in pseudo AFL competition.

I find it extraordinary that we are in limbo at this stage. We can't seriously be expected to front up without top up players. What happens if a handful of the available players aren't fit? Talk about OH&S issues.

****, the AFL can drop the ball with the best of them.

option 1 reschedule games. Still plenty of time.

Melb vs GWS on Saturday 27th/28th Feb @Morwell - 2x20/25 min half games

Stk vs Melb on Sunday 8th Night game @ Etihad 2x 20/25 min halves

GWS vs STK on Friday 13th @Spotless Stadium 2x20/25 min halves

Have Melbourne, GWS and Stkilda play off in a mini try series. Each game being 40 mins each. Each game played at Morwell, Spotless and Etihad stadiums.

Option 2

Every AFL side nominates 1 player who wont be playing in there closest game or someone they want to see more of. These guys plus the guys who we can field play in an alternate strip against respected sides as scheduled previous.

Common sense has prevailed, we need to be playing these games, we have an obligation as part of the competition to field a team, if we have enough players with our VFL players added to the team then we definitely need to be playing.

Agreed. The 2012 players still there are (correct me if I'm wrong):

Hibberd, Bellchambers, Watson, Stanton, Winderlich, O'Brien, Zaharakis, Baguley, Dempsey, Pears, Melksham, Hurley, J Merrett, Heppell, Carlisle, Myers, Browne, Steinberg, Hooker, Kavanagh, Fletcher, Colyer, Dalgleish, Hocking, Howlett I believe. Which leaves:

Chapman, Daniher, Z Merrett, Goddard, Cooney, Ashby, Edwards, Giles, Ambrose, Langford, Laverde, Long, Gleeson, Kommer (inj), Hams, Gwilt, Aylett, McKernan, McKenna, Fantasia, plus top ups. So a theoretical side (with however many VFL top ups we need) might look like:

Ashby - Freezer (VFL) - Gleeson
McKenna - Gwilt - Edwards
Cooney - Goddard - Laverde
Chapman - Daniher - Z Merrett
Fantasia - McKernan - Langford
Giles - Hams - Aylett
Long - Ambrose - Polkinghorne (VFL) - Schroder (VFL) - Tagliabue (VFL) - Marigliani (VFL)
Coghlan (VFL) - Heavyside (VFL)

yep just did the same thing myself and came up pretty much the same, the only problem I see is Goddard, Cooney and Chapman wouldn't want to be playing 3 full NAB matches so dont know how they will work around that, hopefully by the 3rd match we will actually know the fate of the players facing the charges.

It depends on the last of our vfl list

No player on the list in 2012 is playing, the rest are and should along with top up players.

Which is what we have proposed the entire time. Essendon was only raising the welfare issue for top ups and players not from 2012 being forced to play. We also raised salary concerns.

The media and rival clubs have gone absolutely bonkers attacking us.

Then its announced we are doing originally what we were going to do except now I assume welfare and salary concerns have been worked through and every one is treating it like we have been shut down and out in our place.

God outside of fantasy sports no one cares about the NAB CUP. Hell we have 100 articles written every year about how it was the biggest waste of time ever.
We even had port adelaide request a match be called off against GWS because they wanted more of a challenge (look it up) there was no uproar back then.

Well, what's the alternative? Sit out altogether?

Let's be honest, that was never going to happen. It's easy to sit here and beat our chest and say we should have done that, but political and financial realities mean that was never going to happen.

If we have to get players from elsewhere, well, that's what we have to do. The whole thing is farcical but with players suspended, it's not like we have much choice.

And I'll support those players like I would any other Essendon player while they're wearing the jumper.

No one got my Mighty Ducks reference :(

Just use top up players, who ****ing cares. Hawthon did this a few years ago.
