Shame no sunshine on NSW GC today. The views are absolutely stunning, especially the 5th after an uphill blind shot you reach the peak and look down descending onto the green nestled amongst the coastline. Then the 6th where you hit across a small cove with exposed rocks and the sounds of the waves crashing into the cliffs nearby.

rain. rain. rain. thank god for waterpoof gear. but gloves were useless on the back 9 and clubs were slipping. finished below 20 pts. lol.

Quite simply pathetic today.

Par comp on the Old course. One of those days as they say. Nothing consistent or went right. Putting continues to let me down, and chipping? Well everything was thinned coming in hot. Actually bunker play was good. But with the Old, if you're wayward off the tee, you're stuffed. Reload. Plenty of that today.

The only positive was that the vaunted rains didnt not eventuate. In fact the radar showed essentially it circling us, but never hitting us. yay. small wins

Agreed
Clubs in decline and membership numbers getting lower

Clubs need to engage with schools to spark interest
Don't mistake membership numbers and private clubs going out of business with the health of golf.

The membership model at 90% of clubs Australia wide is broken and until that changes clubs will continue to go to the wall.

What is your definition of the broken model versus a correct model?

Broken model: probably any model which assumes that "more women and children" is the way forward....

And all models where the most discriminated person in golf - the 40-55yo working male - remains discriminated against by being forced to pay ludicrous high fixed costs for membership and often cannot get a game in the limited timeslots when he is able to play.

Hello,
played Long Island today. It is our 4th course (well after the merger). a real different setup to courses im used to at home club. Flat, trees. Cored greens meant slow greens but that was ok. Started off ok with the driver, but in the middle part my slice came back and i was sad. Fairways are in great nick, so soft under foot.

Clubhouse is old but has character. Considering it's half the distance to the National CS, Id play there again.

I played at Charters Towers in far North Queensland today. Shot 85/73. I couldn't part to save myself. The greens were slow as.
Next game will be at Proserpine on Monday which is 100kms approximately North of Mackay. Fairways should be green there.

Shot 94/82 at Proserpine today. The course is alright but I couldn't putt to save myself. In saying that, I sunk at 7m par putt that was quick and turned at right angles on 16 that started a par run to finish.
The course just never suited me and I didn't feel comfortable all round. Quite a few tee shots I was blocked from playing my natural shots. In saying this, it is a course that you could get used to with a few more rounds. It doesn't help either if nearly every fairway miss results in a blocked shot or a punch out. On another day you would get away with these on this course.

toxic just from reading a few threads on that golf forum I notice quite a few of them seem to go through a hell of a lot of equipment. They always seem to be buying new clubs and gear.

40 points today (23 and 17). Got to 12 and began thinking about the score and choked a bit from there. Was on 6 points after 10 and 11 and only ended up with 17 for the back. :(
