God no, my sports were baseball and basketball. He plays well in spite of me and thankfully I know very little and stay the hell out of his way ;)

They set yardages for each age level. His age level 8/9 plays a total of 1900 yards for 9 holes.

Roughly 220-235 for par 4's
Roughly 290-330 for par 5's
Roughly 90-110 for par 3's

Cost prohibitive at this juncture unfortunately. Plus, I kinda want to wait until he plays 18 to do a trip like that. At least that's what I am thinking.
Agreed

Plenty of time to wait

Just was neat to see him get an actual invite to something like that.

But don't worry fella's it most definitely is not me forcing him to golf. I actually have to take the clubs away from the boy otherwise he would hit balls all the time when he wasn't in school, doing homework/chores or sleeping.

played Moonah at national yesterday. Wind was up again, but thankfully with the win on the final 3 holes (which traditionally are into it). 95 off the stick with no pars but one memorable birdied on the hardest hole. Around 420m par 4, but tee shot must hit the ridge or else it rolls back a long way. I launched a 317m drive (easy swing with the wind) which hut the ridge and rolled down into the valley. 113m out iron in, pin high and one putt. I celebrated like a mad man for a 3 for 5. no one was around to see it but.

Tough day & 31 points. Really struggled with my range from 50+m out all day missed greens cost me dearly. Actually led to me winning least putts today though haha (on countback from former aus cricket Dean Jones no less) I'm sure he won't mind as he took out the medal of medalists today.

27 points :(

Started ok, but after 7 holes it was clear my short game just wasn't on and wouldn't hold up. I was going ok but then on the 7th I missed a 2 foot putt FFS. Missed another 2 footer 2 holes later. Bunkers were rubbish. Chipping was trash. Other than that I was fine off the tee and good with my irons.

So frustrating when you're playing well to around the green but then can't score because the short game is non-existent. I might see if I can play tomorrow to redeem myself. No doubt short game will be on and everything else will be off!

conversely frustrating when you are shit off the tee, off the fairway and dont even get a chance to putt or chip for points
