Stroke competition today. Theres a shield event that runs over the next month, match play knockout so I need to finish top 8 (on handicap) to qualify. Never played match play so really hoping I can go well today and get some experience under my belt. Would love a chance to play handicap pennant this year.

32 points of ugly ugly ugly scrambling golf this morning.
Bairnsdale is a tuff dog leg style course. Small small greens and pace of greens pretty slow which i struggled with badly 2day

Lost by a stroke today, not sure if I'll ever get a win under my belt at this rate! But qualified for the matchplay knockout next weekend which was the goal anyway.

On another note, I found myself hitting out of a dried out water hazard today and because it was bone dry i wheeled my buggy and clubs into the hazard with me.

One player of the group told me it was a 2 stroke penalty to take my buggy over the hazard line. I disputed it and it was raised in the clubhouse later. Couldn't find anything distinctive in the rules. Anyone know what the go is there?

I did some more online research since posting this and just about everything points to me being correct in this situation.

a lazy 1/2 round at kingswood today. lovely course, been YEARS since my last game there. really enjoyed it, greens slow and furry, fairways lush and green. pine trees and the canal coming back up the back end of the front 9 are a visual cornucopia.

greens provided trouble for one who is used to fast greens. 50 strokes. 3 putted so many times. lel

would play again.

9 hole twilight comp tonight, 20 points after wiping the first hole. Good warm up before match play tomorrow.

Won my match today 7 and 6. Was looking grim early after my opponent parred the first 3 holes and was +2 on me. Probably say more about my opponent's game, we played out the 18 and worked out to me having about 38 points. But after I had won my concentration fell off along with my game on a couple of holes late.

There was a group ahead of us also competing in match play and we were stuck behind them all day, they should have let us play through after about 5-6 holes but never called us through. That stuff doesn't bother me so much as I just enjoy being out on course but it got under my opponent's skin a bit and i think that's what his game dropped away so much.

He had to give me a shot on 6 holes today though so that didn't help his cause to much either. Bloke i'm playing next week has the same handicap as me so that'll be interesting.

Absolutely. The president and the captain are both known to enjoy an icy cold refreshment on the course. I guess that's one of the perks of a small little country club.

spoke to other members and guys at pro shop. they said last 3 days the old course has been the designated guest course, and have found that there have been less care of the course. i noted this seeing many pitch marks unrepaired, rakes willy nilly and greens scuffed.
