Cleveland fall tour wrapped up for the kiddo's yesterday at Avalon Lake Country Club. Weather was a brisk 3c with a nice northerly wind making it even colder. Boy had the ex on his bag, which was more than fine by me, as I dressed like Nanook of the North and was nice and warm.

Under the conditions he played some damn fine golf. Headed to the Par 3, 8th hole at +2 and a 2 stroke lead. All 3 boys in that pairing struggled big time on that hole. Has water running length of left side, green juts out towards the left...pin placement was tucked in that left corner and right along a fall line so 2 feet past the hole it would run straight off back of green. The boy surprised me by playing ultra conservative and left it short right--ended with a shocking 6. Other two boys both took 5's---it was not an easy hole for any of them.

Made up for it with a 15 footer for par on 9 and finished with 41. Other two boys went 43 and 44....rest of the field of 9 boys was 50 or worse.

Finished 2nd overall in fall because we sat a tournament to allow opportunity for one of the two other top boys to qualify for Pinehurst next summer. But he did win 3 of last 4 tournaments he played in down the stretch.

Gonna call it a year this weekend with a tournament close by us at Windmill Lakes Golf Course...Hurricane Tour event 18 holes on Saturday/Sunday. Weather supposed to be much much better. Then its on to basketball full time.

Paradise Palms friday had 36 points, played really well despite my hangover

Got 18 in after work at Royal Hobart. Shot a 76 which is my best. 9 birdie putts for only one bird. Putting was good just misreading. Potential there to get the magical par for 18 holes.

Saw 2 crocs at Palmers, only 2.5 - 3 metre types. One was on the edge of the lake just after the 18th tee on the right

Paradise Palms is sad but interesting.
Long story short, owner had a swag of Chinese investors lined up, condo's,units,townhouses etc.
Borrowed 20 mil to get it up n running.
Chinese govt clamped down on money leaving china.
Owner now screwed paying interest on loan.
Complicated by the dozen or so different body corporate bodies in the estate have joined together to stop owner bulldozing the course and selling it off.
Course still in 7/10 condition, but messy times ahead

3rd round back now the weather has turned it on. Still only plodding around at Burnley and had a +12 through 18 today. Had a blinder on Monday with a +1 front (2 bogey, 1 birdie) and a +3 on the way round again.

After holding it off for 12 mths, finally purchased my first pair of glasses. Don't know how much of a difference it's made yet, feels like I'm going crosseyed most of the time, but I've been plonking more fairways so it's a good start.

Still not confident enough to take the driver out, just been 3 wooding off the tee. Doesn't matter given the length of the course, but I'll be at Yarra Bend next week so I might hit the range over the weekend and see if the slice has miraculously disappeared. Not confident at all.

I’ve never seen snow in person. My wife and I are going on a day tour into the Rocky Mountains on Saturday. I’m really looking forward to watching the Denver Broncos play the Texans in the NFL next Sunday.

Back to work today after an awesome three day golf weekend.

What a fantastic three days, Toc turned on perfect weather for the days, the accommodation was just perfect for a group of 20 guys on a golf weekend, the clubhouse was fantastic, reasonably priced food that tasted nice, with a TAB and pokies area that kept everyone happy. But the most important thing the course, was in magnificent condition, i have done a few golf trips now on the Murray and this is by far the best course i have played on up there, the fairways were like carpet, the greens were tough to get a handle, but you'd expect that on a good golf course for a hacker like me, and the layout of both 18's was awesome and each whole had a different challenge about , was not a boring round.

From a personal golf point of view, Friday was two ball Ambrose on the Presidents, hit them okay, but the greens the wind up me, was certainly something i was not used to putting on, myself and my team mate finished with an 85, not great, but it was not the worst in our group of guys.

Saturday was stroke play on the Captains course, of the two i found this the most enjoyable to play, was first out in the morning and the weather was that good did not need a jumper on at 7.20 in the morning, had a decent day, shot a 93 off the stick with 35 putts, and with my handicap of 23 ended with a nett 70, hit them as good as i have in a long while and was nice to walk of the course feeling happy with how i had played.

Sunday was stroke again, this time on the Presidents course, and whilst i started a bit rusty, was able to lift my game on the second nine i played and came in with a 93 again, this time with 32 putts, so same result nett 70, score could have been a bit better this day as i felt i hit them better, but was happy with my play over the weekend, and the results kept me out of NAGA territory weekend, saving me from winning the toilet seat trophy we have.

Ended winning the Saturday calcutta with my randomly drawn partner, took home a 150 bucks each , our group of 20 won the quaddie at Mooney Valley on Saturday, was not a big win per person, but i've never won a quaddie before, so that added to the enjoyment of the weekend. Added that to my own punting wins and left on Sunday with an extra $540 in my pocket, making the weekend even more special.

But even if i hadn't had such a great weekend on the punt and playing i still would highly recommend Tocumwal for a golf trip, it is a great place to play and stay.

It’s all good brother. I’m at the Brisbane airport now waiting for my flight to Sydney. We have a three hour wait in Sydney before we depart to San Fran. 73 minutes after arriving there we have to get our luggage and be at the domestic gate for our flight to Denver. That will be tight thanks to a 2hr delay for a flight in Sydney.

My last on Wednesday I got 34 points. Finished with 21 on the back. The front nine at my home course, City Golf Club Toowoomba, has got me head ****ed.
