Geoff makes some good points as always but that one about members paying $5 extra to fund the Aust Open is crazy. As one of my mates said "socialism for millionaires").

And pros won't travel from the US for a first class airfare and a hotel room. Appearance money (and bucket loads of it) the only answer.

Shit day but beautiful weather. Scarified fairways made it tough work for shit golfers like me. Lost all confidence in everything. Greens were perfect as usual, but i was so flustered come putting time i couldnt putt for shit.

Playing Safety Beach this Sunday,never played there so not sure what to expect, other than it looks a short course with some water.

I'm loving daylight savings, i've been getting out to Melbourne airport golf course after 6pm lately, 12 bucks for as many holes as you can play, not worrying about score as the course at this time of the day is quiet, and i'm using it more for practice, playing different clubs off the tee and from different spots on the fairway, much better than just whacking balls on a driving range.

Yep definitely. So many people bitch and moan about par but it makes you think about every shot. Always enjoy par comps and generally play well in them too.

Not really. For me it's all about making sure you give yourself 2 putts to halve a hole.

Hitting the fairway off the tee is vital and given I get a shot on more holes than not, if I'm in trouble off the tee it's making sure your second shot is giving you the best chance to hit the green in 3. Even if that means swallowing your pride.

Yes it is. Stableford assuming a shot on a par 4, got 6 shots for a point. Par, 5 shots for a half, no 6th shot.

I guess its one less shot meaning conserving energy

Certainly was a decent distance from green to next tee, luckilly for me i was in a cart. Not a bad course, was short and very narrow, and three holes were tee it up as new grass was being bedded down, found it weird teeing it up on a fairway.

Played stableford 36 points with 3 wipes, which would give me an 88 off the stick, wasn't my best work considering how short the course is. Got off the tee well again, something i'm happy with, who would have thought playing more would improve this,have had a new putter for the last three rounds a Cleveland Huntington Beach, has certainly helped my putting, the feel of it ( the grip is excellent ) and the weight has me getting long putts a lot closer.
