I don't see how it's any different to exercising. Providing social distancing rules in place (no flag stick, no rakes etc.), you don't come close to anyone. Feels like a rule for the sake of a rule.

I've accepted it because it's only been a couple of weeks. If it's the same in 2 months then it might be a different story

In pairs. Keep your distance.

Quite simple really.

yep. works well down here. we also have no rakes or sand buckets, no taking the flag out and Kingston had this foam object at the bottom of the cup, so it was easier to pick up your ball. We also had to book tee times, which were spaced 10 mins apart. No booking, no golf. Some are only open to members as well.

Sounded like Kingston was fully booked for the next week when we talked to the clubhouse manager.

We all agree that that is how it shall be, and golfers can do that. However, thinking back to my last game Im positive i was within 1.5 of my mate during the round

If they reduced it to 2 players per group...and had longer times in between teeing off...wouldn't it make it almost impossible to get on a course? Every man and his dog is going to want to as there is sweet FA to do atm.
a valid point.

from National GC pov, with over 2k members (playing).....eeek!

assuming every member wants to play at once haha

True...I'm always talking from the public course point of view haha

Private course they could cap it at 2 times a week or something that works.

You could also tee off from the 1st and the 10th.

I think one of the recommendations (before they closed everything) was to have only one tee starts to reduce congestion.

As long as the groups don’t go too slowly, they should change seamlessly from front to back or vice versa.

Anyone know if course maintenance is continuing for closed courses? I've read articles that it can be pretty hard to get courses back up to scratch if left too long.

I'm tipping Victoria is playing golf again towards the end of June or July, fair to say it's going to be an incredibly busy Spring with social distancing and stricter booking requirements for everyone on course, I reckon you're gonna have to book a weekend round 1-2 weeks in advance and just hope the weather on the day plays nice.

Absolutely. No excuses for poor looking courses

Yes, as far as I'm aware my club is running a skeleton crew of maintenance staff to keep the course in passable condition.

My course is also running a skeleton crew. Opens tomorrow for 'exercise play'. Club has noted the course will not be up to usual standards but enough for people to get out and play.

Hmm, where's that?

Mine (Devilbend) sent an email today that it has kept itself closed till mid may aligning with the Vic state of emergency

On the same day our course closed the club posted on the website a picture of two of our members who had eagles the same day with arms around each other's shoulders

Unfortunately the few ruin it for the many. I spoke to a mate today on the phone, asked him what he's been doing and how he's Easter was,

"Yeh good, my sister in law and her boy friend came over and we've been visiting my cousin and their kids a bit"

....
People still flaunt the rules because they choose to not listen, which ruins it for everyone else. This is why I don't trust and would prefer stricter rules. I'm not against Victoria closing golf courses for the moment because many people just don't listen.

People are morons. That's what we've learned.

not sure, but this came up in my twitter feed. quite interesting.

I'd find it pretty funny if the cops slapped him with a 1k fine.
The irony is the rules in Victoria around certain activities are because people aren't following advice and continue to flaunt the advice, which is exactly what Sam is doing here.

His actual question might be valid, but I'm sure if we wait a few weeks all the hard work people that are following the advice are doing will pay off for the betterment of everyone.

I don't agree with Sam that often but he's bang on here. Every other state you can play golf, go fishing etc. It's only Victoria that's currently in a police state all thanks to Daniel Andrews.

It's a ****ing disgrace what he's doing.
