I dont need that for an excuse. So long as there's air coursing through my lungs that alone is enough excuse
Haha, same here most days. Didn't mean just you.

You just know there will be some people around that will use it as an excuse

Masks to become compulsory at Pensinsula Kingswood
It’s amazing you see health experts say it’s virtually impossible to transmit the virus outdoors in such a scenario but there you go.

At my club you have to play in 2's and due to the timesheet pressures with limited tee times available you can easily get lumped in with someone you don't know.

Personally playing a social only round in a mask with someone I have not met before means that I'll be sitting on the sidelines until restrictions ease. I'm not that desperate for a round.

I give it a week before you crack and are going for 9 with some random in a hazmat suit.

43 points today with the new clubs. Third round with them. They’re so forgiving and hotter face compared to my Mizuno JPX 825’s. There was 90 in the comp and I’m leading out of the 59 who scored on their apps. Waiting on 31 cards to be entered by the committee.
And they’re in and 40pts was runner up. I’m not expecting much of a prize as the Tuesday Sporters keep the money for their trips away on the sauce.

Respect your decision. I dare say there will be many others with the same pov. Respect to them too.

Less competition for tee times [emoji6]

I’d just pull the thing down up the 1st
i suspect every golfer has been planning that. ive discussed it with contemporaries alike, it has crossed mind absolutely. BUT, the club and those in the pro shop have warned that suspension is likely.

The cops have vistited the clubs i frequent. Luckily they havent seen transgressors. It would be very bad publicity for a golf club to be plastered on the news as the one that caused closure of courses in Vic. Certainly amongst the "big" clubs, no one wants to be the one that's credited with it.

At least it might keep your face warmer on a cold breezy day at the National

It’s a violation of our rights. How is any of this legal? Is it in the clubs constitution? The day is coming when there’s going to be a major public backlash.

Id say that golf clubs have lawyers involved that being the case. Or in the case of victoria, surely clubs have challenged the governments regulations already (especially after lockdown 1.0)

My GA handicap has dropped from 15.8 to 15.1. On top of this I have been hit with another 1 point reduction on my GA handicap to 14.1 for going 7 shots under handicap. This stays for the next 20 rounds.
Congratulations on an excellent round!

Or alternatively the clubs have decided to toe the line and follow the regulations.

You know like all other Melbournians have.

Anyone here a member of Spring Valley in Clayton South?

No, but I've played there quite a bit.

What was your query?

Off the back markers it had a slope rating of 150 odd.

Was rated toughest course in Victoria (maybe oz) when slope ratings came out.

It's a great track.
Some great par 3s

Enjoy 😁

Correct.

Had the highest slope rating in Aus as recent as about 2 years ago.

Which triggered the course to remove a whole heap of shrub, remove hazards etc in the last 18 months to speed up play.

Play was just too slow with too many lost balls for most thinking it would be a manageable public course......

In reality it has one of the tightest front 9's in the country. Some of the fairways are cricket pitches at sections, with OB and lost pretty much everywhere.

It's an underrated track.

I wouldn’t play there. There’s no fun in dumping a whole lot of golf balls and shooting 20 odd shots over handicap. Average golfers like myself need to be given a chance. Royal Pines at the Gold Coast where they play the Australian PGA does this. Challenging course but allows for golfers of different abilities.

It's not a long course, plenty of average handicappers play it to great effect.

It's about course management and keeping between the lines there. Or else you end up in the tea-tree.

It actually suits smaller hitters, because they are less likely to go through fairways or fairway hop (which you cant really do there) etc. Your mid 60's golfer who just knocks it up the fairway 180 is a pain in the ass to play against there.

Different courses require different things.

Somewhere like St Andrews Beach requires brute power around a lot of it to shoot low.

I played the new 9 holes they currently have open at Sandringham a week or so ago. The rest of the course will be open by the end of the year, including the new clubhouse.

The course has been redisgned by Ogilvy's company, with a new driving range and the VGA's and VIS Golf headquarters will be going in there.

With a view for the range and the VIS facilities to be be used for Royal Melbourne tournaments and major pennant and amateur events etc.

The new bunkering is sensational, the 3 of the back 9 were always originally RMGC holes in it's original layout from the 1920's and it will only be a Par 70, as they've got ridden of all the Par 5's to stretch out the rest of the layout. But what they've done with it is great.

Given it sits on some of the most recognisible golf soil on the planet, coupled and the new bunkering which actually showcases it, it's legitimately going to resemble a mini public version of RMGC & Kingston Heath when done.

I dare say it's going to be one of, if not the most popular Metro public course by next year.
