Yeah. I was feeling good today though, just every now and then would top one and cost myself.

Just went through the leaderboard through one golf for today’s play. There was one other birdie for the day among the 21 men in the field. And he was in my group and didn’t win the day.

Penny drop moment. If I cut down the wipes and save a shot here or there I’ll be right up there on a day like today. I don’t have to score birdies and pars all the time. Just need to score. I’m not far off

It’s our Open this weekend.

tentatively booked in for both days given it looks like cricket will be called off. Not meant to rain tomorrow but rained all night last night and will rain all day today so outfields wont dry out.

if cricket is somehow on I’ll just play the Sunday daily comp though. Lots of great golfers in the field, including a local bloke who is (or was in 18-19) Australia’s no.1 senior amateur. He won his own club’s open up this way for the 23rd time since 1984 last weekend. Actually keen to see him play

Took months before ranges, practice greens and pro shops were properly open in Perth. Some courses still don’t have the pro shop open ie: Hillview and Maylands when I was there a while ago

14 holes at oakleigh. Did not hit my irons as well today...54 shots. Scrambling and putting was awesome. 9 one putts with 3 longer putts almost holed out as well. (20 putts with a three putt).

Peninsula Kingswood today. Enjoyable day where I do not recall losing a ball. Furthermore, putted exceptionally well .

played with a bloke who is off 10 today. He gave me some good tips on driving from what he saw. I improved towards the end. Had an issue with low hands. He pointed that out.

bloke I usually play with is 13. I know him quite well so he’s less tips and more banter.

I’d accept tips from anyone I play with though. I want to be better. I’d take them from a 30 handicapper

It’s more putting though. Guy today gave me tips on that too so I’ll take that on, but I just can’t get comfortable. He noted I’m too tense and I’m stabbing at the ball. I did try what he said to remedy it but feel like I don’t have control of the stroke then

When I 1st started an old dude (was 65yr old playing off 4) gave me a practice putting tip

Putt inside on the carpet
Putt from 3ft
Putt one handed both left and right till you get 10 to stop within 3 inches of the 3ft line

I'd strongly advise against taking advice from anyone other than low single figure handicappers or better.
Why? They're just not good enough to give you CORRECT advice and can quite easily lead you down the wrong path, despite best intentions.
If you're after fundamental advice, Ben Hogan's 5 lesson's book is a bit of a Bible. I'd have a read of that. Golf magazines will often give conflicting advice too, so try and stay away from their lessons. They're likely to confuse you even more.

9 over 79 at wav public (front 9 twice). Pared the second nine with 3 birdies. Good fight back pretty happy with that. Consistent driving my weakest link.
