May have just completed a driver fitting at Drummond - awesome service

May have also found my new baby

Cannot believe i didn't do this sooner FFS

Old TM M1 - Average carry on launch monitor about 245yds

Tried - Ping G425 - multiple shafts
Tried a Callaway - multiple shafts
Tried a Cobra - multiple shafts
Tried the TM SIM - multiple shafts (also didn't like it visually)
Tried the Titleist - multiple shafts

The Titleist was 20 yards longer in carry on average than any of the others, in order (Titleist, TM, Ping, Callaway, Cobra)

Average Carry across 20 drives with the shaft below was 298 yards and dispersion was far tighter, even a couple of ugly mishits had carry of 250 yds, max carry was 318 yards - felt so sweet and sounded f k n amazing - just knew it was long and drawing perfectly

Needless to say it is now in the bag and the M1 is in the garage awaiting further instructions

Is it rude to ask how much that driver cost? I want to make sure I have the cash before I commit to a fitting.

Anyone ever been in the position where your scores aren't improving but you feel like you are getting better as a player and its not far away from clicking and breaking a new best?

I got 129 today first time playing Churchill-Waverley (Rowville) off the blue tees. Lots of parts of the game broke down on different holes, in fact that's one of my worst scores yet, but at the same time I'm hitting shots I haven't hit before and making them, just inconsistently. I didn't touch the driver or 3 wood before a week ago, today I was hitting it 220ish and on the fairway, huge improvement.

I feel like I'm so close to a round where 2 or 3 parts of the game click on the same day and same holes and I break new ground.

All the time Juss. And the opposite. You know when you're playing well but it just doesn't quite show on the scorecard...and you find good experienced golfers don't play well but they can still produce good scores often.

It's great you are getting off the tee now.....makes things a lot easier.

I can relate. Difference between a good shot and a bad shot is literally mm on the club face, and the bounce of the ball, and a puff of wind. So many variables and luck involved.

Yeah that happens. Somedays you feel like you are hitting it well but get the same score as when you feel like you are hitting it badly.

One day it will probably click and you take 5 shots off your best

It's all part of the attraction of golf. Playing well and scoring poorly is definitely part of it. Can I ask why you're playing off of the blue tees, (if they're the backs)?

juss did you like the course?...it's not bad.
Honestly, take away the giant powerlines and towers that run all the way through the course and it would be a beautiful sight with plenty of wildlife and nice rolling hills.

Course was good, fairway grass was really long today though, anything short would just get caught in the grass there was no run at all. Bit patchy in places too, but it was $20 twilight golf for 18 and a long course, can't beat the value.

You'll see big improvements coming if you've only just started hitting driver properly. Takes a great deal of pressure off other parts of your game too.

I dont usually, but today (for a reason unknown to me) they had taken away the white tees. There was the ladies, then a gap where I assume the white tees would usually be, and then the blues.

I'm not too long off of the tee and sometimes I find it quite liberating off of the blue tees because the fairway opens up a bit and there's no way that I can make the fairway bunkers.

I'm still playing lottery with my longer clubs though, the further I hit out the less I know where it's going. I know that's everyone, but I probably still find too much rough or hazards off my tee shots. But the % of hit fairways gives me a chance and hoping that continues to improve.

Come on Bicco - this is the golf internet. You're not playing by the rules. It's meant to go like this:

"I typically carry it with 280m with the D but lately I've started dialling it back with a stiffer shaft (OBAN Asawa tip stiff) and a smoother swing for accuracy. So I'm happy with 260m if it means I'm in the fairway."

Well I do carry two drivers to cover both those situations. Doesn’t everyone??

Ain't that the truth.

280m with the driver?

Thats a soft 9 for me.
