I’ve been Toowoomba for a few days working and went back to Brissy late yesterday. So I snuck a game in yesterday, my first in three and a half weeks. Rusty start but finished with 29 points. If I’m not playing twice a week my golf is not good.

Didn't play in the comp due time being at the Devils 1st game at North Hobart oval.
Played 18 in the afternoon off the blacks in honour of it being Monthly Medal.
80 off the stick, 34 points with x2 wipes/doubles. No birdies.
Perfect weather. Between January and April, Hobart has the best golfing weather in the world. We're so blessed. No humidity, no wind, still plenty of light.
Son is on his way down Easter Monday. Playing Barnbougle, 7th beach, Ratho Farm and 3 others over a week.

9 holes, 2 over. Really getting frustrated with my putting. Had 8 putts for birdie (x2 from just off the green) and made 0. Really struggling to get the ball to the hole. I'm.sure it's an easy fix, but I'm totally sure of the weight but the ball continually comes up short. I could be shooting sub par rounds but those 5-15 foot putts are killing me. It's hard to be disappointed with good scores but they could (what a word) be so much better.

Barnbougle will be great, Rather likely very dry on the fairways. As in dead grass. Greens and tees should be ok.
I've heard conflicting reports on 7 miles condition. Pleasingly, most recently I was told it was in good nick. Likely on the dry side. We don't get much rain down here.
I'd give Ratho a miss and play one of/both Royal and Tasmania if I were them. Courses will be much better in evey way.

My mate played Barnbougle Thursday and it looks perfect. No dramas there.

A couple of blokes they are with have been down there so I am guessing they are including a few they didn't do last time. I have another mate who has been down there recently...mid handicapper around 20. He liked Ratho and some of the small courses in random small towns. Think he might have found the better courses just too tough.

Has anyone played Westgate before? I played there today and it’s home to the most diabolical holes I’ve ever played.

Yeah I have.

It's... not good.

If you're in this area, Altona Lakes is easily the little 9 hole local of choice.

In their defence I'm not sure they could do a hell of a lot more in the little space they have and the condition of the course was fantastic. It was chaotic though and that dog leg par three was out of this world. 168m par 3 and you can see the green from the tee :straining:

Metro is THE bucket list Australian course for me.
(By sandbelt standards) it's awfully overrated. If the conditioning falls away it doesn't have a lot else to hang its hat on.

I'd say conditioning is 80% of the experience. As long as that's there on any course it will be a better experience. One of my favourite courses is Palmer Coolum, but apparently now the conditioning is poor so people won't play it. The course is still the same layout.
I think Norman said that Metro had the best fairways in the country (would've been years ago to be fair). I was told recently that Lake Karrinyup is in poor condition, so the experience is less. I'd have both Coolum and LK in my top 5 for course layout.
My reason for wanting to play Metro IS the conditioning. To play a course whose standard is so much higher than anywhere else.
