1988 - at the MCG. 2nd time we'd beaten them (as reigning premiers) for the year

Thats right. Starcevich kicked 3 goals in 4 minutes in the last quarter and Banksy nailed another minutes later to seal the win.

Another one that comes to mind was in mid season 1992 when we beat the league leaders at the time, West Coast by 1 point at Subiaco. We were 5 goals down at half time. That is the day that Monkhorst played an absolute blinder (he got us over the line that day). Worslfold cleaned up Mark Fraser on the wing. Craig Kelly done his knee as well. Paul Williams kicked the goal that tied the scores in the last qtr then with 20 seconds left Monkhorts smashed it out of the middle, Wiiliams handballed to Troy Lehman who kicked a point to win us the game with 2 secs left on the clock....absolute Gold!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a little surprised nobody has mentioned the 1990 2nd semi against Essendon - the one that got us into the GF.

It was tight well into the 3rd quarter, then Madden and Kickett mucked around with the ball on the wing, stuffed up, Scotty Russell pounced on the ball and put it through. from then on it was all Collingwood and the last quarter was absolutely brilliant. We ended up winning by 60+. Measured purely on the quality of the football played that day, it was a better game than the GF two weeks later - for which I came down from Sydney and paid $320 to a scalper for a ticket. Best money I've ever spent!

that was a huge moment - when essendon looked totally wrecked by us - for the first time ever I actually started to believe we would be premiers - they had given up at that point

I too have the triple pack... watching the Crows PF is what made me start this thread!

"COLLINGWOOD ARE INTO THE GRAND FINAL!!!"
"FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 12 YEARS, COLLINGWOOD HAVE MADE IT TO THE GRAND FINAL"

Eclipsed only by... 'Reality is... true' by an excitable Daics :)

I remember the hairs on the back of my neck being 2 inches into the air the moment that bomb left Rocca's boot from the centre square. What a noise.

This was an amazing game, I was sitting right in the middle of thousands of Crows supporters. That Rocka goal from the centre was the loudest noise I have ever heard in my life. The hit by cloke was a ripper and I still believe won us the game. Would be interested in other peoples thoughts but this seemed to be the loudest I have ever heard a crowd at any game I have been to. I still think because it was an interstate team playing us the noise was so loud due to so many pies supporters there.

My Top 5 (lucky enough to be present at all games)
1) 90' GF.
2) 02' QF V Port Adelaide.
3) 90' 2nd Semi Final - Hot day, white shorts, Essendon choking.
4) 95' Anzac Day Game
5) 03' QF V Brisbane - I don't think I've been to a game that was as tense.

Long time reader, first time poster.

I don't rank these in order from best win, but these are games that stirred the emotions of all Pies supporters. Here's my pick:

1. No Buckley, No Problem
2002 Qualifying Final: Collingwood 16.12 (108) def. Port Adelaide 14.11 (95)
Without captain Nathan Buckley, Collingwood plays its first final in eight years in horrible form, winning only one in five. Paul Licuria played probably the most inspired game of football from any Collingwood player for the last 15 years - collecting 40 touches and tagging Josh Francou out of the game. The game-defining moment was Peter Burgoyne being run down in the goal square after playing on by Ben Johnson. This game is top shelf.

2. Didak Double Sinks Lions
2003 Qualifying Final: Collingwood 9.12 (66) def. Brisbane 7.9 (51)

Collingwood finishes the home and away season in second and hosts Brisbane in a cut-throat final. After a tug of war for the first three and a half quarters. Didak steps up to the plate with two goals in the final 10 minutes from the left forward pocket on his left foot.

3. Sudden Death
2007 Semi Final: Collingwood 13.15 (93) def. West Coast 10.14 (74)

This game defined the proverbial heart stopper. Played in hostile territory against a wounded Eagles side without Cousins or Judd, the game ebbed and flowed until the last ten minutes of frenetic footy. After 120 minutes couldn't split the teams, the Pies ran over the Eagles in extra time to book a preliminary final. This game was the dawn of the next generation of Pies players that will deliver up a 15th Premiership.

4. Hot in the City
2005 Round 3: Collingwood 20.8 (128) def. Carlton 16.12 (108)

Although 2005 was a year to forget, this game stood out. Played in 35C heat Carlton gets the jump on Collingwood and leads the game by four goals at half time. The third quarter was one of the most intense quarters of football I have had the pleasure of witnessing: Collingwood kicking nine goals, Carlton kicking six goals, abysmal umpiring by McLaren, Carlton up by five goals halfway through the quarter only for the margin to be reduced to a point by the siren - end-to-end footy at its best. The last quarter was all Collingwood as they ran over the top of a tired Carlton side.

5. Pie Premiers
1990 Grand Final: Collingwood 13.11 (89) def. Essendon 5.11 (41)

I have to put a flogging in this list - why not a Grand Final. Most people remember this game as if it was played yesterday so i'll spare you the details.

1) 2002 QF vs Port. It's been said already, but this game typified the spirit we showed all throughout 02. I can remember Rocca taking a mark in the goalsquare in the final quarter, attempted to play on then either kicked the behind post or kicked the ball into the behind post. Johnno's tackle on Burgoyne minutes later to square it up. Paul Licuria played one of the best games I've ever seen.

2) 2002 Rd 8 vs Brisbane. Most electric atmosphere of any game I've been to. I can remember pretty much the entire crowd chanting "The Rupe is on fire" when Betheras kicked a couple of goals in the 2nd half.

3) 2003 QF vs Brisbane. Dids goal in the last qtr is the reason we should keep him. Was good to get one back on them ... pity bout what heppened 3 weeks later. This game seemed to have so much more at stake than a spot in the prelim.

4) 2002 PF vs Adelaide. I simply couldn't believe it. We were in the granny!

5) 2007 SF vs West Coast. After struggling early got it back and ended up running all over them in extra time. The last 5 minutes of regulation time was almost unbearable.

Glad I was able be at the game for no's 2, 3 & 4.
So many more great games, even some that we've lost. Really makes me laugh at the ridiculous amount of passion I have for the club.
Go pies!

I was going to post but your list is exactly the same as mine. :thumbsu:

I was also at the same games. :)

Yeah, glad we were there for em.

The fact that they're all between 02 and now shows that we have enjoyed moderate success in the past 5 years without winning the ultimate. Such an improvement on the mid 90's when I was a footy obsessed primary-schooler witnessing constant dissapointment.
The good things is I know the best games are still to come:thumbsu:

Where abouts can this be purchased, if at all?

I always thought I'd end up buying the PA v Coll Qualifying final from name-a-game down the track but there's a thread bagging them on the main-board.

Would be great to get the triple.

I got mine from JB-HiFi in Brisbane about a year ago, for $50

1) 2002 QF v Port
AMAZING! or as licca said many times after the game it was FANTASTIC!

2) 2002 Prelim v Crows
The run on we got in the 3rd was great to watch. The roar from Roccas big bomb goal must have been the loudest thing heard at the G.

3) 2003 QF v Brisbane
DIDDDDDDDDDAK!

4)2007 Semi v WC
Was yelling at the TV so hard

5)2005 games v Geelong and W.C
Although it was a year to forget, those couple of wins felt better than any other
