Hypothetically, if we had a full fit collingwood list avalible. This year and you where captain of a scratch match with a school yard one pick each type system who would you pick with your first pick if you had first pick, and who would you pick if you had second pick and why for both?

My first would be Anthony Rocca simply for structure going foward. As good as Cloke is he is not a real impact player when deep which means he often gets the ball outside 50 and without Rocca there he struggles for targets to give the ball too. If Rocca is fit and Cloke isn't a host of the smaller players who play tall such as Thomas and Medhurst could play the high half foward role and deliver to Rocca. Our foward structure is very poor considering our game plan, which is muck around on the wings and bomb to the foward 50 where we have no one.

Second would be Burns. He is the only real true in and under ball winning bull we have and we really struggle in this aspect. Without him our ugly clearance numbers would be so much worse.

I guess what I am kind of trying to demonstrate aswell is that while people are mystified at our recent lack of form, it is not such a suprise when one of our most important players in terms of structure is out and our main/ only real in and under player is on the wrong side of 30.

This is gonna hurt a bit, but my No. 1. pick would be Didak.

Before all this shit happened, he was developing into a top class midfielder, with the ability to go forward and turn a match.

I actually hope no one gives us anything for him, and he stays.

Ill agree with 2nd pick Burnsy, the heart and soul of our team and the only consistent midfielder we have.

Pick #1: Trav. Think he's our most important player now. Think his patchy form has shown that we need dominant forwards working in tandem, not that Rocca is more important than Trav (ie, I think we'd be in even more strife if it was Trav on the sidelines and Ant shouldering the load in the forward line.) I do take Shawthing's point about Rocca being a more effective deep forward, though.

Pick #2: Swan. The fact that Swan is #2 on my list probably reinforces how much work our midfield still needs. I think he's our best and most consistent mid. Also, think he's carrying an injury (otherwise it's hard to explain why he's spent so much time out of the centre square in the second half of the season).

Dids.

Followed by Pendles. Imagine how much Pendles would carve it up against our own midfield, with no taggers?

I am staggered by Didak being 2 of the first responses. I know he is probably our most skilled player, he is however IMHO more of an icing on the cake player then a foundation player. He is reliant on better ball winners getting him the supply, even when he plays in the midfield.

His hanball recieves number show that he gets gifted the ball a lot probably because he is our best kick. That said if the team is struggling and need someone to step up etc, Didak would not be that guy IMO unless the whole team was stepping up and he was going up a gear with them.

It may just be my line of thinking but I think players who win you the ball and use it ok are far more important then recieving players who finish well simply because with out the former, the later go missing. On that line of thinking I would have Burns, Swan and Pendles all more important then Didak.

Didak is no. 2 for kicks in the AFL and no.4 in the AFL for hardball GETS. He is way ahead of Pendleberry, Burns and Swan and uses it a lot better than all 3. I wouldn't have put Pendlebery in the 'winner' of the ball category either, he is an outside link player.

#1: Pendlebury, he is really good in the middle with his great skillz.
#2: Cloke you cannot go past a good CHB or CHF so hes my pick.
