I'd suggest making it an U/23 team (which to a large extent this team is) which would add some exclusivity to the side. No doubt the boys in this team get the feeling that the older players don't want a part of it.

Your right its a very young team which is very good. Good to see Coghlan in the side been very good in his first year of footy.

Great to have some of the good young players playing - much better than those days when Monkey and aged others used to "run" around.

what sort of player is langworthy from Monbulk... obviously kicks a few for them.

are you the full back for the other team? he is 2 metres tall weighs 135kg covered in tatts and has a very bad temper.....enjoy your day:D

What did you think of the 1s game blueboy? Ive seen the last 3 games and i reckon Seville are having trouble putting teams away... Look like the better side for most of the game but have patches where they fall away and let the opposition back in. The last couple against Junction and Kinglake could have been much bigger wins?

Do you know how far away healy, tanner and troyan are? All key position players will be handy to get them back in.

Spoke to Troyan twice in the last few weeks, 3 weeks ago would have said put up the screen and shoot him! Last week looked like was moving quite well, but I think still a fair way off playing.

Will not play again this year.

Upwey v wandin today, Upwey very good... Deserved to win. The topic tonight though revolves around umpire Jason mcnish. Easily the most arrogant and overly technical umpire going around. Paid a world record amount of frees and set the umpiring fraternity back 5 years today. The sooner he realises that people go to watch the football and not the umpires, he may take steps in the right direction... I doubt it. I would hazard a guess that he is mates with the finger... Or even the finger.

The above mentioned umpire will be doing the Senior Interleague game on Saturday.

Interested to hear everyones opinions on who was really that notable to miss out on Interleague? A few Gemmy boys obviously stiff/didn't want to play.

Not sure if these boys were asked, declined the invite or were injured, here's a few names from each club whom l would think would make a pretty strong side.
Gembrook
Everett
R Clark

Mt Evelyn
Haworth
Murphy

Healesville
Stolarczyk

Olinda
Noorda
Tregoning

Warburton
Murphy
Rattray

Monbulk
McCormick
Koole
Lucas

Upwey
Parsons
Gooley
Heinrich
Sheers
Porter
Brotja
Dawson

Yarra Glen
Cowan
Kueffer

Woori
Witowski
T Williamson

Just my thoughts, only Div 1 names as l dont see any Div 2 footy.

I can only speak for Gemmy who have 4 playing tomorrow night - Aj (Vice Captain), Shane Williams, Rick Causer and Nath Muratore. Three others invitees couldn't play because of pre planned trips in the only weekend off during the year - Rick Clark, Andy Campbell and Nath Brown.

The Gembrook Football Club is proud to have 4 playing and will be there in strong support of their teammates and the YVMDFL.

Great to see some new blood in the side. The four you mention Red Hot Tip are all well known to all in the Emerald/Gembrook areas and everyone wishes them well.

:thumbsu:Couldnt agree more. All great kids and future of yvdfl. Steve gough would have been with them had he not got a slight injury that he missed last game with.

Footy rules, probably could have named a few more, but most you mentioned would be handy ins. Interested in Witowski from WY. Heard good things about him and he came with big wraps yet to see him do anything special though. Different style of footy up this way compared to down the line possibly a factor?

at the halfway point of the third quarter and umpire mc"I still bear the mental scars from having my head shoved down toilets at high school"nish has payed 4 50 metre penalties in 10 mins, including one which he caused by pointing the wrong way after a free kick. The bloke is a goose

I find this difficult to believe... He is the best umpire in the league. The others must have suffered a man united type plane crash tragedy and the traffic warden happens to be the only one left standing! a good win, considering we had 30 - 40 injuries coming in... Some sort of record!

Great games on Saturday with YV winning both. Lights were great I thought. Everyone contributed that palyed .

Geat effort by Jason Coghlan in the Under 18's BOG with 9 goals as mid field /forward.

After losing at Alexandra in round 6, 1983, Upwey-Tecoma won their next 25 sixth round matches from 1984 to 2009, interrupted only by a bye in round 6, 2000. Olinda’s unexpected win at Upwey in round 6 last year ended that run of wins. Upwey’s record in round 6 matches between 1974 and 2009 was 34 wins and 1 loss.

Belgrave’s score of 3.19 (37) against Alexandra last week was the most inaccurate score by a team kicking 3 goals since Mount Evelyn ended with 3.20 against Wandin in 1949.

Gembrook’s 72 point victory was their biggest-ever win over Mount Evelyn, overtaking the 64 point win in the match played at Kilsyth in 2006.

Yarra Glen make their 10th trip to Upwey on Sunday. Their first nine defeats there came with an average losing margin of 100.2 points.

Warburton’s last four home matches have seen both home and away teams exceed 100 points. The record is five consecutive matches where both home and away teams kicked over 100 points - at Olinda in 1994-95

Consecutive wins at home - currently

Woori Yallock 11 *
Gembrook 8 *
Monbulk 6
Emerald and Seville 3
Alexandra and Upwey 2
Belgrave and Warburton 1

…all others lost their most recent home game

* Woori Yallock and Gembrook totals each include a 2010 home final.

The last team to win at Woori Yallock was Mount Evelyn, in round 2 last year. Woori Yallock host flag favourites Warburton-Millgrove on Saturday. If the Tigers can win that one, they won’t be all that short of their longest ever winning streak at home.

Club records for consecutive wins at home

Alexandra - 16 consecutive wins, 1980-81
Belgrave - 29, 1981-85
Emerald - 15, 1955-57
Gembrook - 13, 1965-66, 1984-85 and 2003-05
Healesville - 17, 1968-70
Kinglake - 9, 1995-2008
Monbulk - 23, 2004-07
Mount Evelyn - 13, 2003-04
Olinda-Ferny Creek - 11, 1987-89
Powelltown - 15, 1934-35
Seville - 18, 1981-82
Upwey-Tecoma - 23, 1976-79
Wandin - 15, 1978-80
Warburton-Millgrove - 11, 2005-07
Warburton - 23, 1947-50
Millgrove - 16, 1915-26
Yea - 9, 1984

Belgrave’s long winning streak started in round 18 of 1981 when they beat Seville by a point in first division. They were then relegated, and no division two side managed to win at Belgrave for three and a half years, until Wandin did the job in round 6 1985, by 14 points.

The first division record is shared by Upwey and Monbulk. Silvan broke Monbulk’s winning run in round 12, 2007. Silvan were the only club to win at Monbulk in Monbulk’s 36 home matches from 2005-08.

Club records for consecutive losses at home

Alexandra - 10 consecutive losses, 2009-10
Belgrave - 12, 1966-68
Emerald - 20, 1971-73
Gembrook - 11, 1935-36
Healesville - 6, 2002
Kinglake - 8, 1990-91
Monbulk - 15, 1989-90
Mount Evelyn - 14, 1937-46
Olinda-Ferny Creek - 23, 1956-59
Powelltown - 14, 1986-87
Seville - 22, 1936-38
Upwey-Tecoma - 7, 1958-59 and 1963-64
Wandin - 11, 2008-09
Warburton-Millgrove - 8, 1990-91
Yea - 10, 1979-80

Healesville are in the unusal position of having lost all three home matches this year. Seville’s long losing streak at home in the '30s was interspersed with a couple of away wins. The Seville club wore brown and gold in this era, and were known as the ‘glow worms’. Now that is a nickname I can identify with.

Flag favourites Derby? Big improvers certainly but flag favourites? I would still put Gembrook and Upwey in front of the burras at this stage.
