Really like the Look of this kid, would it be worth us going after him to help with the ruck issue? I honestly think he is already a more well rounded player than angus..

Thoughts?

barring injury will be a damned good player, maybe the next cox/sandilands. No chance of us snagging him, will be a life long player for gold coast. :footy:

who is he....??? the name sounds familiar.

Plays for the gold coast. Very agile for a big man, can kick goals too!

We need to have a crack at picking up a good young ruckman. It would be worth asking the question!

No chance, He's a Queenslander and last year he was named Ruck in the VFL team of the year as a 21 year old. He'll be one of the top two rucks in the League in 3 years. He has no reason to leave and we would literally have to give up Cotchin or Martin for him.

he wont be going anywhere unfortunately, him and gorringe will form a great ruck combo.

as bad as we need a ruckmen, be patient, i dont want us to draft another ruckmen with a first round pick

Lets not pussy foot around with trying to unearth another ruckman. We go with what we have now and when the time is right and we need a top number 1 ruckman, chuck the cash at Mumford. ;)

I am not so sure about that Ruck combo. I agree Smith looks like at least an Ottens (not when young kicking goals etc..) but could be the next Sandilands without the height or dominant like a cox. May well be able to do it all.

Gorringe looks very promising as well. The thing is I rate Smith in particular , not that I am an expert, so highly , I don't think even GC will be able to hold them under the cap given the rest of their list and what they will need. It would be like getting to Cox's in the Ruck, a Franklin at CHF, Ablett in the middle and another quality CHF not forgetting the rest. It would be crazy for them to keep both when they have the other tall forwards on their list and compromise the rest of their list like a Fev scenario. They will have to balance it out which is why they might have to let Gorringe go.

Note it appears Port are trying to offload Trengrove on bigfooty so maybe they have their eyes on Gorringe. Plenty of other good ruck opportunities that are young as per the grapevine so the Tigers are in the box seat. It is a buyers market , no need to give way the farm!!! Work it right and a good ruck should come our way if Angus and co don't develop as anticipated.

I quite like Ivan Maric

He is a terrible player. Simon Taylor-esque. Exactly what we don't need.

I have a theory that you should never use a good draft pick or trade for a young ruckman. I think we should pick up a ruck who is about 25 who hasn't done their knee and looks like they can play. I'm sick of developing ruckman between 18 and 23.

Hell will freeze over before Richmond has any chance of picking up Zac Smith.

Thoughts on Mitch Clarke instead? Have heard a few Lions supporters don't like him very much, doesn't seem to do a good job as a foward as he is more of a primary ruckman but with luenberger taking that possie he is used more as a foward, wanted to leave brisbane last year, perhaps he is an opportunity for us to get a good 1st choice ruckman to take gus' spot?

What would we have to trade to get him??? perhaps our compo pick from the crows plus gussy or ty?

Dean Brogan. I haven't seen a white line ruckman since Stafford (yes it's a joke).

Mitch Clark would be good. Could offer compensation pick and a fringe player (perhaps one of our '000's of half back flankers) and a decent haircut.

Mitch Clark is shit. Dont want him to come anywhere near our club. It seems many are unaware, but Mitch Clark is the same age as Gus. We already have Vickery who is pretty much the same mold as Clark... just three years less experience in the afl system.

We definitely shouldn't be trading Vickery. Getting better and cooler every week. Worth far more than Clarke on his own.

Mitch Clarke is an average forward but a good ruckman. I'd have no problem with getting him to Richmond, but not at any cost. I'd prefer free agency.

Would want Zac Smith even more but I have no idea how we could possibly get him

Weird.

If we're chasing a ruckman, Zac Clarke is the only one we'd have a chance of getting. Could get him cheap too, compared to what he's worth. Should have a look if he's out of contract.

203cm 21yo originally from Oakleigh Charges went something like 37 in the draft.

Fremantle already have Sandilands, Bradley & recently took Jonathon Griffin back from Adelaide.

The guy would be sick of playing in the WAFL ....

Gorringe linked to Crows in a swap for Tippett. Could benefit both teams. Also given the fact suns have good ruck depth inc QLDers in Hickey, Nicholls etc.

PS: No chance of you guys getting Smith.

Happy with that. So you are saying possible Day, Tippet, Dixon, Smith pinch hit and Lynch in forward line.

Presumably T Lynch comes on the market as you have to many cooks in forward eatery clearly with others as well. We could be happy to accommodate if Lynch wants to come back home with more game time!

Lynch is a great prospect. Been watching him in the QAFL/NEAFL of late and should get a game soon. I know where you are coming from however and as time goes on a few of these boys will definetly be traded. What would you offer for him? keeping in mind hes a recent pick 11 quite high.

Maybe Lynch and Hine for Tigers 1st rounder? We need to reduce our list anyway by 2 annually not to mention minimum 3 draft picks/rookie promotions etc. These are 2 vic boys and great options. Hine was a great player in our VFL team and is highly rated.
