That's just rubbish. They're a family. Family always comes first.
It is not "rubbish". Try thinking just a bit for even a moment, instead of emoting.

Bryce Gibbs is not a person who just HAPPENS to play football.

Bryce Gibbs is, as a registered AFL player, a business person who has, by a carefully negotiated formal contract in writing, agreed to provide his services to the CFC in return for the payment of a very large sum of money per year - much more than he would earn in the normal workforce.

He is in a commercial relationship of a significant kind as a registered player in a national professional football competition. He is not an amatuer playing for your amatuer football club.

As a matter of law he is bound by his contract. A contract negotiated for him by a professional agent and drawn by competent top tier firm lawyers which he freely and voluntarily signed.

Where do you get the absurd idea that with three years to run on this significant contract he can effectively demand to be released from it because his wife wants to live in Adelaide and/or he wants to work for a club that he thinks is more likely to win a premiership before he retires?

He is bound by his contract. We, not him or Adelaide, have the upper hand.

Bryce Gibbs is a poltroon.

Not that I dont agree but elsewhere on the boards there are people clamouring that we should give up pick 5 for marchbank because he was a pick 6 a couple of years ago, no mention that he is mostly injured, no mention that he is also OOC, no mention that he has also nominated Carlton. But we are also getting steak knives in Pickett and co...once again, nominated us and badly injured, has a year to run on current contract but GWS has to cut list size.
Well... up until very recently it was pick #5 or bust. You're going to get #13 and then some from Adelaide. #13 for Marchbank is probably bang on.

I get your point though. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm sure Geelong won't try to shaft you. Hopefully the deal gets sorted swiftly.

Poltroon! Haha love it.

There is a bigger poltroon in the AFL though, he plays for the swans..

His partner is, in substance, his wife. She just happens to be a de facto wife and not a de jure wife.

Sorry to bombard you with facts. Facts are inconvenient to an emotional outlook!

What's emotional about remembering that he's human? He has a family that he needs to consider, whether you find that disloyal or not is no skin off his nose, I'm sure.

You don't know his family's circumstances. They have a one year old baby, perhaps his partner needs more support at home. Should he just tell her "sorry babes, I'm a super important footballer so you're on your own"?!

He's not the first player (or person) to break a contract and he won't be the last.

Your response is full of speculation and fantasy. Thank God you aren't in list management at CFC!

Uhhh..I agree with the current CFC list management in letting Gibbs go. It's a good move for the club if we get the right trade done.

Your position seems to be that you think he's henpecked and therefore a traitor, so thank God you aren't in list management at CFC!
