Ok, I will simplify it for you

We do a deal with Adelaide for Gibbs

We receive 1st round this year + 2017 2nd round from Adelaide (Other later picks will be exchanged)

We send Adelaide's 2017 2nd rounder to Geelong, as part of the 2E trade

Make sense?

Crystal ball type stuff and who knows what happens form here on in as we could trade this future Cats pick to get Marchbank etc from GWS.

Smedts is no dud regardless what people say and has been injured unluckily trying to get into a Flag winning Geelong outfit.

Cats were not delisting him and he was contracted till the end of next season.

If we can keep him on the park this trade has massive upside and what the hell does Touhy provide other than a raking kick that gets utilized 3 times a game to our advantage while his direct opponent runs rampant?

The reason for the pessimism is that Zach has been one of our most durable and dependable players, 4th most durable in the AFL whereas Smedts ahs managed 4 or 5 games in the last 2 years. Smedts is probably seen as a bit of a wasted talent looking for a fresh start, where Zach was one of our most dependable guys. If Smedts body keeps letting him down (like marchbank, pickett and everyone else we are linked to) this trade might be very bad for us in the long run. SOS knows what he is doing though so presumable he has cover for Zach and maybe he is bringing in or drafting someone else with 2 working legs that we don't yet know about.

I'm kind of hoping we can trade 13 for Marchbank, Pickett and Corr and Gold Coast are stupid enough to take the 2017 first and Everitt for 8 or maybe 10.

Actually **** it, give them Everitt, Graham, Whiley, Tutt, Lamb, Boeky, Thomas, Adrian Gleeson, Casboult and Juddy's business card, along with the 2017 first for 8.

If someone offered us pick 13 for Touhy and our second rounder, would you be happy with that???

Cause in effect that's what It'all all work out to in the end after we on trade Geelongs first pick to GWS for MarchBank and co.

Better we use this trade to satisfy FWS rather than accept indeed for Gibbs just so we could get pick 13 to satisfy GWS.

Makes perfect sense....except for the fact that it's against the rules.

Our deal with Geelong is that we're giving them OUR 2017 second round pick - the specific pick is nominated at the time of the trade. We can't change that if we happen to get a later one in.
 
Genius by SOS. He has taken the power away from Adelaide. They held a card over us as we could become desperate to make a trade for less on Gibbs to get that pick 13 in return, to be able to on trade to GWS for Marchbank and Pickett. We now have the same pick effectively in 2017 from Geelong which will also satisfy GWS... so now Adelaide have to come to the table if they want Gibbs. Genius. SOS is a master.
