His average dropped a bit after injury riddled 97 and 98

If we're being as gorgeously pedantic/correct as the 2008 Yearbook - p.59:

Scott Hodges, PAFC (1987-1996 [1997 to be exact - Power listed obviously])

163 Games, 650 Goals (3.98 per game)

Hodges also played his initial games on the forward flank, meaning his goal output wouldn't have been as high as when he switched to FF.

It's also noteworthy that prior to 1993 and the emergence of Modra, when Scotty found himself on the pine for extreme periods as well as in and out of the side, his strike rate at AFL level was a very respectable 3 goals per game (78 goals, 26 games - 1991/2) despite the injury interruptions, regular away game pantsings and the fact his heart wasn't in playing for the Crows.

The what-ifs of a 22 year old teal-clad Scott Hodges suiting up in 1991 are mindboggling.

Just read on TPFP that Tredders and his wife have a new addition to the family, a son Nate.

Hopefully he joins some Wilsons, Burgoynes and Lades in our side in about 18 years time.

Dont forget there is also Kane Cornes' two boys also. I gather also Salopek's (partner) had a boy as did Rodan's partner. I know someone mentioned there had been a spate of boy babies born to Port players's partners. Does anyone know of the playing list say in the last 5 years just how many boys the players (partners) did have? I suspect Schofield's boys would be eligible as would Montgomery's boys & Wanganeen's boy Tex.

Yeah Kane has 2 boys, but Eddie will never be healthy enough to play top line sport.

I agree, we do have a few father/son prospects to look forward to in about 15 or so years, that is if the AFL doesn't decide to scrap or change the rule.

Yeah they probably wont qualify because they will be deemed as PAMFC aligned or some such garbage...

With the creation of the Suns and GWS and the follow on raping and pillaging of future drafts it would have been a good time to have some father/son prospects on the horizon. Anyone know if any sons of guns are looking likely to being available to us in the near or distant future?

I posted a little while back that Tim Ginever was on the radio saying how he dropped his son off at his local U13 team, playing with the sons of Roger Delaney, Rohan Smith and Richard Foster. Three out of the four qualify (not Fozzie) as 200 game players I guess (who knows with AFL rules?).

They're still a few years away.

It will be touch and go based on the current rules - after 20 years don't we lose the old Magpie player qualifications?

Based on being 12 years old they are within one year either way if the 18yo draft age remains, but as you say, the rules may change...again.

Between their ages, the Escort/Foundation Cup tally shamozzle, their time away albeit limited at Fitzroy/St. Kilda I'd say it would be absolutely touch and go whether Rog and the Ghost made it to 200 by the 1996 cutoff.

TPFP is going through one of their periodical 'database is forbidden because people are actually using it' cycles, so we can only play a guessing game at this point.

Wish we had a Blueseum type resource. That s**t is awesome.

According to the 2008 variation of the FS Rule, we have until 31 October 2017 to nominate a 200 game son of from Port, Centrals, North, West, Woodville or Torrens.

Rog and Rohan were each gone for only 1 season of VFL.

See, I thought this was the case when I started this thread only to have my dreams shot down at the end of it by REH with a link he found from March 2009 and that year's rulebook.

Some outright clarification from the league would be nice though - if the Crows' SANFL F/S eligibility window has indeed closed we should be going hell for leather to bring ourselves into line with the Vics, Swans and Lions and make damn sure any sons of Choco's or Scotty's are ours.

Doesn't that mean we don't have to worry about the timing of getting the sons of Ginever, Delaney and Smith for example as 200 game players?

FWIW I thought the sunset clause had been removed, but the rule gets changed so often it's hard to keep track.

Apparently so on both counts.

Incidentally, on that Blueseum site I read Carlton have already locked down Dylan Buckley, the son of Jim even though he won't be eligible until the end of season 2011.

Chuck in Tony Liberatore and Stephen Wallis' highly-touted sons already locked in at Footscray and it must be hard to be able to plan your list that far ahead.

Think of this when we trade Krakouer, Motlop and our first for Brad Ebert...

That should make the juniors mentioned in this thread eligible for us.

It would be sweet justice if they all made it.

It stinks, especially as Andy D often publicly acknowledges our history. Seems that recognition only goes so far ...
