60,000 seat stadium.

"The plan is based around a target of 80 per cent of stadium users travelling by public transport."

"Belmont Park train station will be upgraded making it the second biggest in Perth, with six platforms expected to carry 28,000 spectators on match day"

80% of 60,000 is 48,000. How is the other 20,000 suppose to get there? Bus?

p.s. Yes I know it wont be sold out every game.

h.

i would start with 60000-48000 equaling 12000 not 20000

i would follow up smugly secure in the knowledge that a bus is indeed public transport and as such suggesting that they use public transport instead of public transport is somewhat silly.

no, they want 48000 going by public transport. but only 28000 going via train. if you read the article you can work this out. will they get 20,000 by other forms of public transport ie bus? i think not.

48000-28000=20000

Did AD let something slip when he referred to the stadium as "Perth Oval" on the footy show? possible new name maybe....

It will have to be sponsored won't it?

Out where, Burswood is the same distance from the city as Subiaco Oval.

Plus the area is getting plenty of investment and this will help drive development.

Perth is a driving city, the public transport is terrible. There is plenty of parking around Subi. Going to Burswood won't be nearly as easy.

It's a non issue. You don't build future planning policy on the mistakes of past planning mistakes.

People will be FORCED to adjust, in the long run it will be forgotten. So it's no mistake, it's planned.

Problem though is there is no way Perth train station can service the extra load at a peak time, likewise the city and to the east of Burswood would be gridlocked. Worst.Idea.Ever.

Dont see why it needs to be named if its government owned. if it was WAFC owned then they could do with the money, but i doubt government would bother.

Im not sure how you can say no way. I suggest you look at the upgrades happening at Perth Station as part of the City Link project, the platforms will clear a lot quicker. Remembering that Perth station will only cater for three lines after the football, at the moment it caters for four during current matches.

In the long run other infalstructure will make Burswood the superior option.
