The race for the top 4

Regardless of how the 4 ends up, there's a noticeable gap between Hawthorn, Sydney, Geelong, Freo and the rest of the competition.

Without Fyfe and Barlow in their side, Freo should be very concerned about what they saw tonight.

What, because Carlton let Port play their style of game? Won't happen next week at Subiaco. Watch the Freo v Hawthorn game from last week to see how Hawthorn got shut down.

Freo are 1 game ahead of Port. If Freo win on Sunday against the Lions, then next week is irrelevant.
I think your math is irrelevant. If Freo win against the Lions, they are 1 game ahead with 1 game left to play. Funny enough, it will be Freo vs Port for 4th.

Probably not, but Port are a side that will throw everything against Freo. And without Fyfe and Barlow that is a massive amount of talent gone against them. This is literally do or die; it will be a war. Maybe Freo will emerge victorious, but they will have a fight on their hands.

Unless the hawks come up against north - they always seem to worry us - one of those bogey sides

Nat Fyfe kept kept Freo in it early against the Hawks so maybe he will do the same against Port. Oh wait...

Actually, no he had a stinker of a first quarter. Four guys won that game for Freo - Mundy (who was enormous in the second half), Pavlich (5 goals), Hill and Barlow.

Yeah, its an important game. The winner gets a qualifying final against Sydney in Sydney (that will be easy!!!) whereas the loser gets a home final against the side that finishes 8th. Only way finishing fourth is of any value is if you win that qualifying final. Lose and you have to take the harder road to the grand final - the same as if you finish outside of the top 4.

but imagine watching that game v Hawthorn minus 55 disposals (26 contested), 13 tackles, 3 goals and 2 assists plus a plethora of scoring involvements and you simply don't win that ball game.

That is what you will be missing without Fyfe or Barlow in midfield.

I see. We are not allowed to replace them.

Disagree to some extent - fyfe was huge once he let go of the anger
I think the key to the dockers is the mundy/sandilands combination - their chemistry is perfect. Blocking mundy is the key IMO

Yeah because their replacements won't get a single stat.

Ballas will provide some of that. Suban is rested and eager as.

Not as if we have nobodies coming back into the side.

So the two players that replace Fyfe and Barlow will get 0 disposals (0 contested), 0 tackles, 0 goals and 0 assists? That would be Weekend at Bernie's style?

Listening to hagdorn this morning - seems to be major concerns with Ballantyne - lower back problem that they just can't get right.

well if you're afraid to face the Swans at home why bother playing finals?

facing the Hawks at the MCG is one of the hardest contests in footy and they have a chance to go back to back as well as spanger and suckling strengthening them (maybe cyril a chance?) what makes you think facing them at their home ground on Grand final day would be any easier?

So you're the one listener who follows him?

He is seriously the worst person in football journalism.

Whenever he comes out with a story you can bet your house on the opposite happening.

I'd have more concerns over Johnson then Ballantyne.

Haha, North beat Hawthorn fair and square this year but in a final Hawks would have no need to worry.
