If true.The boy better win 10 JD medals,5 Brownlows and 5 Colemans,2 Rising Stars and the Melbourne cup for the price he's asking.

Will only be slightly expensive for the first 2 years. Once the new salary cap kicks in with the new broadcast deal it will be about standard/cheap.
2.5b over 6 years is 66% more than 1.25b over 5 years, so we should probably expect the salary cap to go up by around 50% in 2017
Question will be is if current contracts have clauses in them to get adjusted with the new cap, however if its like the NBA then doing our long term deals now will free up substantial cap space when the new deal kicks in.
