Ten would probably have Saturday arvo/night as Seven will have state footy (WAFL, SANFL and VFL) commitments from 2017.

Ten's commentary team for 2017
PBP: Gerard Whateley, Anthony Hudson, Stephen Quartermain, Tim Lane
Special comments: Luke Darcy, Matthew Lloyd
Boundary: Mel McLaughlin, Mark Howard

Shows Ten could revive in 2017: The Final Siren, One Week at a Time, The Game Plan, Before The Game, The Western Front (Perth viewers only) and The Fifth Quarter. Ten could also launch a show dedicated to AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach on Thursday nights.

Does anyone view this is as a bit of a conflict of interest... or is it just me?
So if it goes back to the 2007-11 arrangement, 7 has the AFL on Friday Nights and Sunday arvos, but then go head to head against the Channel 10/AFL to cover the state leagues on Saturday arvos?

have Saturday afternoon Football, all 9 matches

Or have up to 5 games going at the same time on Saturday arvos with different cities/states getting a different game on FTA.... kind of like the NFL.

But its the desire of the AFL to allow fans the opportunity to see more on a given weekend and reducing clashes.

Brownlow Medal Night live on Ten & also simulcasted on One.

Fox Footy will continue & will also continue to air all 9 Games, All Finals plus Foxtel Cup, All Australian, Brownlow Medals & Rising Star awards.
What's the point of all games being shown on Fox Footy if Ten are showing it in HD?

Also like the commentary teams, would prefer Quarters commentating the Saturday Night game though,

Why Mel McLaughlin? Maybe we can have Punter on Special Comments for North Games.

Possible Scenarios:

With Seven having WA, VIC & SA Football TV Rights, Here are the Possible Scenarios:

Ten to be the Sole FTA Broadcaster of AFL

or:

Ten to be host Broadcaster of All 9 Games & one Sunday Night Game being held with Fox Footy continuing & will also continue to air all 9 Games, All Finals plus Foxtel Cup, All Australian, Brownlow Medals & Rising Star awards.

Some developement. Hope the new deal includes mandatory HD for every match on FTA, the Brownlow and the Grand Final.

I'd expect 10 and Foxtel to win the rights as 7 has got the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018 and the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 (remember what happened in 2008 when 7 opted to show AFL over the Olympics) which will clash with the AFL. 7 also have commitments to show state footy (SANFL, VFL and WAFL)

2017 AFL Premiership season (All times in AEST)
Match 1. Thursday Night 7:40pm - 10/ONE in HD
Match 2. Friday Night 7:40pm - 10/ONE in HD
Match 3. Saturday Afternoon 2:10pm - 10/ONE in HD
Match 4. Saturday Afternoon 2:10pm - Fox Footy
Match 5. Saturday Twilight 4:40pm - Fox Footy
Match 6. Saturday Night 7:40pm - 10/ONE in HD
Match 7. Saturday Night 7:40pm - Fox Footy
Match 8. Sunday Afternoon 1:10pm - Fox Footy
Match 9. Sunday Afternoon 2:10pm - 10/ONE in HD

Sunday twilight fixture to be scrapped
All matches involving West Coast, Fremantle, Gold Coast, Brisbane, GWS, Sydney, Port Adelaide and Adelaide to be LIVE on TEN and in HD on ONE in respective markets
Finals to be shown on 10/ONE in HD. Fox Footy to simulcast all games up to the Grand Final.
AFL Grand Final exclusive to 10/ONE with ONE showing the Grand Final in HD
Fox Footy to continue to screen every match with no ad breaks siren to siren in HD, the Rising Stars award, U18 Championships, Foxtel Cup, MVP award and the All-Australian team exclusively
TEN/Fox Footy to show Brownlow Medal live into all markets with an HD simulcast on ONE

Perhaps alternate between a Thursday game and two Friday games each round, that way the 6 day break rule does not get broken.
A Thursday game on FTA one week, a second Friday game on Foxtel the following week, rinse and repeat.
That way it becomes a true even split between FTA and Foxtel. FTA get 5 games for half the rounds while Foxtel get 5 games for the other half.

One good thing about having ten/one on board is that they could have their news at 5pm, meaning live footy in the afternoon at the traditional time slot of 2pm instead of a potentially delayed telecast at 3pm.

The one negative of getting rid of Sunday twilight is that it makes the fixture a bit inflexible in terms of Perth games.
Crowds are lower in Perth for 1pm local starts on Sundays compared to the "twilight" fixture of 2:40pm.

I think that is great idea!!! Maybe have the Sunday Night Game at 6:30pm instead of Thursday Nights & keep the Sunday Twilight fixture & have Friday Nights at 7:40pm.

My opinion:
AFL: Seven: free to Air in HD, all games live
Friday and Saturday night games
Sunday afetrnoon
Fox Footy: pay tv (would prefer it free to air to be honest) in HD
all games live
Telstra: monthly or yearly subscriptions for mobile devices: Apple and Android
all games live in HD
My concept for a telstra scoreboard on the phone: and the by the way the teams go similar to what they would wear eg like freo are white below as they would wear their clash

Why isn't Channel Nine not putting in a bid for the 2017 AFL rights?

Put the commentary aside when 9 last did AFL from 2002-06, the way they did Friday Night Football was amazing. Nine turned a Friday night game from a ho-hum, nothing-much-to-watch game into a must-see event (think North v Adelaide, Wayne Carey's first game against his old team at Etihad Stadium).

May well have spent their pennies on Rugby League (whose rights are also due for renewal not long after) and Cricket.

And the players looking at the camera claiming "This is my Friday Night", then showing highlights of them in action.
