No mention of the fact that the PAFC gave up their rights to a share of the Football Park proceeds (value?), something we had every right to receive.

The contribution that the Port Adelaide Football Club made to the establishment of Football park between 1973 and 1990 is something that is often neglected by our critics. As the biggest drawing team in the SANFL in that period I imagine that our contribution in terms of the cash flow generated through bums on seats and catering would have been significant and greater than any other SANFL club. As you rightly point out Red we surrendered any interest in Football Park and its environs in the name of the One Club merger. The exact monetary value of that action will probably never be known but it needs to be taken into account. People like Penberthy are not interested in the finer detail or the facts they simply write that which sells papers.

The article above is obviously Rucci trying to be seen as showing both sides of the story and showing that he has no bias:drunk: but you could drive a truck through the holes in the SANFL's arguments here.

HEAVY cost cutting. The SANFL slashed its operating costs by $1.5 million this year and will cut again by $2.3 million next year.

Well ofcourse. The SMA now incurs all the costs, not the SANFL.

BUSINESS losses by football’s return to Adelaide Oval. The SANFL’s once-lucrative catering arm, Encore, will close in March. The league’s revenue stream from the Tavern bar at Football Park also has collapsed.

Encore closing now Whicker has retired??? Encore will just be named something else that is owned by the SMA.

STAFF cuts that have stripped the SANFL from 120 full-time workers to 66. Next year, the casual staff roster - that had 1000 people last year and 100 this year - will be gone.

Staff cuts, again, these would be from the day to day running of AAMI stadium, new staff (and I'm sure a lot more of them) will be taken up by the SMA.

Checkside Tavern? Please. The only time this did a roaring trade was game day. Again the SANFL are making out like bandits from game day at the Oval as well as the 100 fold increase in functions they would have at Adelaide Oval over the s**t hole at West Lakes.

Their banking debacle is just a lesson in stupidity. Maybe they could have got Rob Chapman to put in a good word for them with Gail Kelly, although I believe Chapman was increasingly thought a fool at Westpac headquarters too, so maybe he did.

What about pre-1973 when the SNAFL purchased the land at West Lakes? Does anyone truly believe that the majority of those funds were generated by the Adelaide Football Club or the Glenelg Football Club?

David Penberthy you are just plain wrong...

The article on page 15 of today's Monopoly Times beggars belief and one wonders who it's author the self confessed 'know nothing about football' journalist David Penberthy got his information from. For starters Penberthy claims that 'the SANFL has lost all revenue that it had from catering at Footy Park with the AFL Clubs now enjoying that revenue.' We are left asking the question who is right because Penberthy's colleague Michelangelo Rucci has told us all that the AFL clubs get no revenue from catering.

Penberthy also makes the extraordinary claim that the sale of SANFL assets at West Lakes may not be enough to service the SANFL's current debt which Mr Penberthy puts at approximately $37M. Penberthy also claims that $16.25 of that debt is the cost of assisting a 'previously shambolic Port Adelaide'. At the same time Penberthy claims that the Crows training facility costs the SANFL $1.3M per year to maintain. If this the case one is tempted to ask why the SANFL covers costs for a club that no longer has any connection with it. One also has to ask how much money the SANFL has spent over the years maintaining training facilities for the Crows.

On Tuesday of this week The Monopoly Times reported that the SANFL was offering to pay off a $10m dollar debt to the AFL. On Thursday they are flat broke so we are all entitled to ask which is it ? There is no mention anywhere in this article of the reported $14M+ income stream that the AFL clubs will deliver to the SANFL from the 2014 season. There is no mention of the $10M the SANFL has reportedly borrowed from the AFL and what that money was used for. The SANFL is crying poor yet it can spend $420,000 on an audit to tell them what their accountants and executives should have been able to tell them. The PAFC is 'shambolic' yet an organisation that has to spend almost half a million to review of it's operations is just plain unlucky.

Penberthy rounds off the article with an attack on the AFL and alludes to some sort of conspiracy on the part of the AFL to take over footy. All I can say to that is if it is the case bring it on because the SANFL cannot do it. Poor old SANFL their problems are everyone else's fault. Poor old SANFL, last week Westpac ditched them yet this week they have had little difficulty convincing another Bank to take up their account.

I hope that the Port Adelaide Football Club asks for a retraction and a right of reply or at the very least takes to the air waves to correct the inaccuracies in this piece of pseudo fiction.

I am so angry about this article.

DEFINITELY. Keith now is the time to respond to this 24 carat BUMF.
Penberthy reminds me of some graffiti I once saw in a toilet scrawled above the paper dispenser
"for an instant photograph of Penberthy tear off one leaflet
wipe to develop"
This unpardonable scrot fails minimum standards.

Have you seen the new solar powered carpark lighting that the SNAFL had installed at West Lakes for patrons of the Checkside (formerly Crows) Tavern last year? They spent this money knowing that AFL football was moving to Adelaide Oval and that the land at West Lakes was going to be sold off. When you have a guaranteed revenue stream and no financial accountability like the SNAFL why wouldn't you put in new lighting that will be demolished in a few years.

One can only assume someone at the SANFL has some association to a solar lighting company.

The football world began in 1991. Everyone knows that. #khmerrougeblueandyellow

That said, an almighty cockbiscuit who'd going to be fun to have around while we're hoovering up premierships in the next 5-7 years.
'Whats a football?' /Pemberthy..next 5-7 years.

One almighty cockbiscuit.

Thanks ... but is he just some radio announcer on 5CC? Not an ex-footballer obviously?

Must have something going for him...being with Kate Ellis?
