Eddie basically said on SEN he woulda knocked over the on-field concessions the AFL were offering if the Kangaroos had said yes.
Any startup side would also get concessions, can't see him being happy about that either.

Who gives a **** what you think? Or Dr Jolly or Mickdog or Peacoack or Angel Eyes or the list goes on? We've won our club off death row and now we are the only ones who matter in deciding whether the club goes up or down from here.
We've got a better chance than we've had in years because we'll be run by people who'll be trying, people who have some idea, and we'll be North Melbourne again. Only three clubs have lasted longer and none have faced the battles we have faced and won.

Why should the new Gold Coast team, be forced to merge with the Roos.
Fair dinkum. Southport have more money in their little finger than the Roos have, they have no need to merge with anyone, if they make into the competition.

Don't 12 AFL clubs have to agree that a 17th team is needed first?
Doubt many clubs will want a 17th team.
There will need to be a way to get the Roos out of the competition once it becomes even more painfully obvious than it is now that there is no sustainable future for them in Melbourne.
The logic will be that a load of existing players, a Melbourne identity and supporter base (albeit diminished), and 130+ years of history will help to establish the fledgling Gold Coast club.
It will get done. The AFL knows it must get a permanent presence on the Gold Coast soon, and will find a way to do it.
