Player Watch #16: Zac Fisher

I do wonder what Fisher’s role in the team is. With Sheezel and McKercher the preferred distributors not sure we can afford to carry a player who’s far too one sided and can’t defend…

Wouldn’t the simple observation be to have either mckercher or sheezel forward of centre?

In a surprise to absolutely nobody, looked far better with midfield dominance and on an indoor track.
Shades of the Fisher we saw against St Kilda last year when he was the main distributor in the backline.

He gets a huge performance uplift when he plays at Marvel.

We have about four rebounding half back flankers in our best 22 and no zippy small forwards, leaving our F50 feeling a bit one dimensional.

How about we give the slippery fish a couple games as a pacy pressure forward?

His 2022 season showed he could thrive in that role, and that he was capable of kicking incredible goals too.

We can always rotate him back to cover for interchanges, injuries and so forth.

He clearly has more to offer forward of centre. Don't think he quite suited to the backline for a number of reasons. One, he is too skinny when asked to actually defend, and two, his skills would flourish a lot more if the pressure of conceding a goal from turnover would be removed.

I like him in defence, he would've come across being sold that vision too.

Move Sheezel forward where we know he has ridiculous form from u18.

Then leave them both in place. Don't Drew Petrie them both everywhere for 5 years.

Probably right but the club just has to balance up some stability in the playing structure
Very very difficult as our deep ordinariness screams out to move the magnets

There was one effort in the last qtr in their goalsquare when he had the chance to bodyline the ball but threw a lazy hand in & almost looked like he tried to do a basketball dribble. Of course their player showed more effort for the ball & resulted in an easy goal. Embarrassing effort.

Seduced by a couple of half decent games with nice stats at half back in a prelim finalist, got dropped for the serious stuff mind you.

Drafted as a mid (too small)/ forward (his two shots at goal this year have left a lot to be desired).

Don't know what to do with him because he isn't a defenders @#$_hole
