Honestly at this point history shows you don't really need to be that worried about the US at the World Cup, and the gap is only getting smaller. The Olympics next year will be the telling one for them, and I really, really hope they lose.

Yep they always send the D team to the world cups. Olympics will become harder for them as the talent gap continues to close. Throwing a team together and expecting them to beat a team that is only slightly less talented, but who have been playing together for years, is not going to be enough.

Considering Jokic for example isn’t playing for Serbia. He comes in for Olympics and almost certain for a medal.

Serbia are just so strong FIBA wise. Not pretty to watch but strong teams in FIBA are hard to break down.

Different court dimensions. Different rules. Different ref interpretations. Too many people just assume NBA players will win in international competitions. Don't underestimate Euro talent and Euro teamwork. USA have only won 3 of 8 World Cups since the Dream Team.

Germany and Serbia have been the best 2 teams of this tournament and that was true before the semi finals.

I understand that, but the players the US sent were likely the most talented group of players at the World Cup, but nowhere near the best team.

All the teams that were successful had played together a bunch and each player knew and played their role. The US didn't have that understanding.

Talent doesn't guarantee victory over teamwork.
