Your points are valid but his game plan has not evolved since his better days.
What worked before doesn’t necessarily work today.
His style will never win or even make a GF in today’s game.
Who is better out of him and Hinkley?
Well if you take the old Port Adelaide thinking that if you don’t win the premiership your season is a fail they are both loser's

Like any game plan, you need the players to make it work. He hasn't had a squad capable of doing anything much for a long time now.

Pretty sure defensive game plans prevail.
Did you watch St Kilda in the finals this year?
They will never be more than a mid table team under Ross.
The bad thing about that is they will never finish low enough to get decent draft picks, his style is good for around 10 wins a season.
He’s done well for himself.

You're kidding right? How many different squads does he need? I'd argue you're a ******* numbskull if you continue to push a game plan that doesn't suit the cattle.you have.

That’s the problem they won’t get better under him because the defensive style will win you enough home and away games to keep you in that mid table ish world.
Come finals and it’s a different ball game as we all know.
He’s not a bad coach he’s a career coach that can get a team organised.
Be interesting to see how he would go as a defensive coach with us👍

Our forward line last year was the walking dead with MG out most of the year, Charlie’s legs eventually fell off and Marshall bashing his head into the ground.
The backline was so thin in the second half of the season I was expecting a call up.
We finished 3rd because of our high class midfield and some cameo performances during the year.
Will be interesting to see if the players we have brought in this year make a difference.
Then there’s Hinkley, everything that could be said about him has been said.

Nothing changes until you cut out the cancer.

I agree, focus some attention outside of Victoria for a change.

It may also be about sticking it to the NRL. South Sydney Rabbitos, Manly Sea Eagles, Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos will be playing in Las Vegas on March 2nd and as a consequence there is only one NRL game scheduled for Sydney and one for Brisbane between the 7th and the 9th so maybe the AFL has decided to fill the void by focusing on Sydney and Brisbane?

Always the crows and WA teams. Can't ask melbourne teams to get on a plane
Should be part of equalisation that Vic sides should travel during pre-season and WA, SA, NSW and QLD teams get 2 games at home.
