The world has a lot to answer for. Its a tragedy for human-kind that Rudd hasn't been appointed supreme world leader by now. The UN should be grovelling on its knees, begging for Rudd.

So where has diplomacy actually got us in dealing with Syria, South Sudan, East Africa and the like? When did the UN last actually achieve anything diplomatically of any note?

Development assistance, this isn't done by the United Nations it is done by a body that works under the UN and could just as easily run as a separate body or under a different organisation altogether.

Peacekeeping by the UN is just a nice way of saying it, realistically it is done by regional powers anyway. In Africa a large portion of it is done through the African Council and France, South East Asia is done through ASEAN and NZ, pacific islands by Australia and NZ. If any of these groups need additional help they'll ask for it and get it.
