Assuming Croms dont trade up and both nominate SA; which one of Grigg and Boileau do you think we will get at our 2nd pick?

I'm genuinely excited to see what all the young talent can produce in the coming years. Hopefully multiple premierships!
I think Adelaide have an end of first compo pick from Saint. So Adelaide will have the next two picks after ours.

We will get Window with our first round selection, Adelaide will most like select Grigg (she was part of their NGA), and then will we be free to select Boileau (part of our NGA) with our second round selection.

That deduction maybe incorrect as the Academies haven't been the main priority except Father/Daughter. The AFL has not used their definition of NGA Academy for AFLW. AFL definition below:

"The AFL Club Next Generation Academies are a joint initiative between the AFL and AFL Clubs, aimed at increasing the opportunities for young people to learn about and play the game of Australian Rules football. The program is targeted at Multicultural and Indigenous communities who may not have as much opportunity to be involved in football programs, or who have limited understanding of the game and how it is played. Whilst the programs focus is on these non-traditional football communities, it is a program that is available to all young players of any skill level aged 11 – 18 years old."

This should be Multicultural and Indigenous not splitting the SANFW into 4 clubs each.

Adelaide may consider Grigg to much like Martin/Button and not choose her first.

As your contributor RussellEbertHandball (REH) noted that you are at 30 players with the signing of Young, Goody & Brooksby.

You will need to make more delisting to accommodate draft choices in Window etc.

Noting you have delisted/retired 6 players post season being - 2 Midfielder, 3 Forward & 1 Key Forward with 3 Midfield added.

As per the PAFC Website with Positions allocated on Player Profiles (potentially inaccurate but) - Your 30 consists of:
4 Key Forward, 2 Forward, 3 Ruck, 11 Midfield, 3 Key Defender, 7 Defender.

Port may need to consider List balance. Most of the Midfielders want to play Inside and attend Centre Bounce Attendances except Boag & Pope.

Our midfield is pretty poor so adding more strength inside would do us good.

But even so…Young can play anywhere. Ditto Goody and Brooksby who have played on all three lines. Window can play mid or up forward and has that explosive speed that will make her and Scholz a dangerous combination out the front of stoppages.

Pretty sure we’ll find spots for all of them. Thanks for the concern though.

Thanks for clarifying with information and references.

So essentially after trade and draft period we could be adding pre draft ranked 1*, 2*, 3, 7* and 12 to our list?

Pretty much - some might say that it really depends on whether Grigg and Boileau nominate for the national draft or the local draft, but I'm of the opinion that the top tier talents will always nominate for their local draft purely because they know they are going to get games and be paid accordingly regardless. We're not playing anyone else over Young, Goody, Window, Brooksby and Boileau if they fit and firing.

I'm of the opinion that the AFL has given out these pre-selection picks to the expansion clubs with Port in mind specifically to neuter the dominance of Adelaide, knowing that this draft would be coming up. Imagine if you would a world where the club that just finished on top of the ladder AGAIN got access to Goody (2nd best player available) with their first round pick, Brooksby (7th best player available) with their second round pick and Boileau (12th best player available) with their third round pick. Because that's what we would be looking at. You'd never get the Crows out of premiership contention for the next decade. It's bad enough that Brisbane has made their fifth GF in eight seasons, and Adelaide has the chance to do something similar today.

No one wants to see the same teams fighting it out for flags, but at the same time, we want to see the other teams get better and finally surpass teams like Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. This draft has the ability to rectify that imbalance somewhat.

Haha - see the Camry Customer's whinging in the comments

They had something like 6 drafts where they got access to all of the Sa prospects plus any players nominating for the open draft.

Whinging that weve had access to most of the Sa prospects for 3 years is absurd.

If we got this same access for another 3 years we still wouldn’t have had the same free run they had.

Really hope Piper ends up at Port.

There’s no way she lands anywhere else other than port.

The 3 teams ahead of us in the draft aren’t trading their pick to the crows.

The crows would have to offer a top 3 player on their list type for that to happen.

Particularly the bulldogs would go from taking the best vic talent to the 10th best vic talent by trading their pic. Even further back if there compo picks given to vic teams for losing players which they’re almost certainly is.

Window will be at port.

Thanks to Pie 4 Life for this list he posted on the Draft and Trading board's sub forum Women's Draft, Sign and Trade thread.

There are a lot of non Vic players who have nominated for the National draft rather than their state draft. I'm surprised Elaine Grigg of Central District's didn't nominate for SA draft. She is in the crows NGA and probably would have been their first SA player picked.

So couldn't post the full list due to potential land alterations, but here's how the AFLW Draft Combine invitees nominated:

Mmm grigg went national?

Was it grigg or Boileau that was somehow linked to the crows (nga?)
Grigg is Crows NGA but essentially Crows said they didn’t need a small forward so she opted for National. Crows will go Boileau with their pick.

Is there any way we could potentially trade up to score Boileau ahead of the crows?

Yes.

We just traded duursma and pick 25 for pick 21.

Crowd first pick is 18.

It’s plausible we could trade 21 up ahead of 18.

Though in reality it probably depends on where boileau wants to play. Not sure we would bother if she wants to be at the crows.

I hesitate to direct anyone to the SANFL website but the link below has some background on Shineah Goddy who Port have picked up ahead of the Draft. Shineah joins Lauren Young (West Adelaide) and Molly Brooksby (Norwood) as AFLW U18 talent pathway signings.

Sounds like we’re going to trade Pick 4 for Kirsty Lamb.

If we do that then it’s important that the Crows don’t trade up for a pick before us so that we can get Piper Window.

The Crows already have the next pick - they are 18, we are 21. This is why the Duursma trade was so bad - we needed to ensure we found a pick before the Crows at 18.
