It’s clear we are well down the path of Bailey Smith
If we really want to turbo charge our list regeneration especially in midfield, then adding Tarryn Thomas with Smith would be a long way to that.

Of course Thomas known issues and fitting in culturally will need to pass the test but you all get what I mean

I don’t want Thomas anywhere near our club. Bloke is a piece of dirt.

If North continues their downward spiral we should 100% be in LDU’s ear. He’s OOC next year and would be a perfect injection of youth in the mids.
True. Well picked up.

They say his free agency year is 2025. Does that mean he is contracted to Kangas inc 2025 and is a free agent after that season? Or when the year 2025 rolls around?

Thomas looks like going to Geelong, they believe they can turn him around, or at least hide his indiscretions easier

Long way to play out on that one.
We are just as much a destination club currently as anyone

But the club would need to make sure the individual would fit in with the group.

Maybe but people have the ability to learn and change.

It’s worth keeping tabs on I reckon
It’s specifically his inability to learn and change in the significant amount of time that Norf gave him that makes me not want him.

Let Geelong have him, the bloke is a culture killer imo.

A cheaper one I like is Comben.
They needed two of him yesterday. He started well down back and it all unraveled once he was moved forward. I doubt we shake him loose, but I think it’s off field rather than on that will buckle at the Roos. For some reason they’ve got an amazing track record of retaining talent.

I'm a big believer in people's ability to turn their lives around. This guy, I'm not so sure about. I know it sounds cliche but one needs to hit rock bottom before they can start the climb up. I'm not sure he's hit rock yet

I just wrote a long response to this that bf browser deleted

Suffice to say, there are penalties and consequences for actions.
I’m all for changing / making amends.
Go do it in another career as your actions preclude you from an AFL one.
Scotland thought after he bashed someone he should be avoid record as it would preclude him from becoming a fire fighter..bad luck.
Actions have consequences.

The club can have my membership if they bring him in.
Great message it sends to all our female supporters and women across the country.

I don't think anyone will take him next year, but if he goes away keeps out of trouble and kills it in a state league he'll get another chance.

SEN’s Sam Edmund is intrigued by the state of Collingwood’s list and what the club could do at season’s end to keep their premiership window open.

While the Pies are coming off the 2023 flag, they had nine players over the age of 30 that took the field in Saturday’s Round 6 win over Port Adelaide as a handful of veterans near the end of their careers.

Several sides that have won flags in the last decade – including Richmond, Hawthorn and West Coast – fell quite quickly after their premiership window closed and Edmund expects Collingwood to learn from those cases.

Edmund thinks that club greats Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom and Jeremy Howe – who are all over the age of 33 – are the players that the club will face particularly hard decisions on this off-season.

“What Collingwood will do at season's end? I know it’s crazy to raise now because we're going into Round 7, and they are full bore for top four and another premiership,” Edmund said on SEN Sportsday.

“There's some projection required here, but don't think that Collingwood aren't doing it and going further because recent history is littered with clubs who have fallen off the cliff after success by virtue of decisions that they've made.

“Richmond as we know, traded heavily for Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper. Hawthorn traded heavily – Jaeger O’Meara, Tom Mitchell, Chad Wingard. West Coast fell fast.

“The Collingwood premiership window is clearly wide open now, but just speaking to those in the player movement industry, some hard calls are coming on some of their biggest names.

Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom, Jeremy Howe, Jamie Elliott, Will Hoskin-Elliott, Mason Cox, Brody Mihocek - the list goes on.

“The Cats made hard calls on their veterans and they're the best to do it in this space with Sydney.

“Pendlebury, Sidebottom and Howe, they'll all want to play on and why wouldn't they? They're in best 22 form. They could win another flag, so you're going to keep going.”

The Pies won’t be rebuilding though, with President Jeff Browne stating that the club will get active in the trade period to stay in the premiership hunt while adding experienced players to continue topping up the squad.

Edmund also thinks that Collingwood will go with a refreshing on-the-go plan as Tasmania’s entry to the competition looms. He also doesn’t expect the club to throw away too many of their future picks on quality players.

“They count down now, it's like the number of sleeps to Christmas,” Edmund explained.

“There are three drafts left until Tasmania that is looming large already for clubs.

Jordan De Goey, Darcy Moore, Dan McStay, Brayden Maynard - they're all 27 or 28. You want to maximize that core as the next wave comes through and then you've got Nick Daicos under that.

“The Pies will learn, they gave up two firsts for Adam Treloar, they gave up two for Dayne Beams.

“Their decisions are what they make for their established veterans going forward (are huge).

“Don't get rid of them all at once, but how many do they possibly move on? It’s going to be a really interesting watch these decisions and how they go about it.”

Pendlebury will pass game 400 in 2024 if he remains injury free while Jeremy Howe and Steele Sidebottom will be 34 and 33 respectively at the end of the season.

I was listening when he started in this ramble.. I mistakenly thought he may say something interesting or enlightening.

As usual, he did not 🙄
I read that article, got to the end, and wanted my minute of life back. He literally says nothing 😂. Our stars are old and need replacing eventually, no sh$t 😂

Yep. It was even more painful listening to him 😆

And even worse knowing he was wearing his Carlton scarf whilst doing it... 😝

I agree. He’s been given plenty of chances at North, and still didn’t learn from his mistakes..He just seems like the sort of person who is incapable of changing his ways.

We’re not touching that thing at all.

Tarryn Thomas has had ample to chances to change since before 18 and hasn’t. I don’t care what the spin on this story is, I wouldn’t touch the guy.

It would go against the culture we have pushed hard to create. It slaps in the face of victims and says such behaviour he had is acceptable because he’s said sorry. It’s not. It’s an insult to the women who play, especially to any victim-survivors.

Is an accumulator but he's an awful kick of the football.

Work rate is impeccable but you'd hate to have him being your designated kicker inside 50. Ranked 2nd in the entire comp in 2022 for inside 50's, whilst managing nearly 7 turnovers a game (#1 in the comp).

He's a high metres gained player but will never be an inside magnet that we truly need. Him and Daics would complement each other but we'd still require a bull to feed them.

Similar to Oliver and Petracca in 2023.

The thing is though that Pendles is still really important, but I don't think it will be that hard to replace current Jezza and Sidey. Still good players but not marquee players any more.

Hopefully it won’t be so easy for him to get back on a list. He has an antisocial attitude which was enabled by north being such a s**t cultured club that allowed him to behave in a totally unacceptable manner repeatedly before casting him adrift It isn’t a case of him keeping his nose clean for a bit either, he has been socialised in a certain way and any seeming good behaviour would merely be a mask hiding his true nature. The guy needs a whole bunch of reconditioning and is a high risk acquisition Don’t care how good a player he may be, having someone with those traits is dangerous and a clear sign to anyone they don’t value women
