I know everybody wants another mid, but do we really need another so soon? we have other more glaring issues in our list id have thought. Assuming we get Buss to sort our KPD deficiency, we still need a pure winger, and good half backs more than another mid. We still havent seen Hewett this year, and have the likes of Hall, Culley, Burgiel, Johnston who havent played yet. Going to be a big squeeze on mid spots when Hewett is healthy.

We have a potential f/s midfielder coming through for the 2025 draft too who could be a winner, but very early days
If we have a pick at the pointy end of the draft, then we go mid with our first.

Go for the talls next pick onwards

Jon-Boy Ralph on that Fox Footy channel show tonight reckons we'd trade one of the picks IF we ended up splitting it this year (in the pick 16 range) for Liam Baker...surely that's way overs for him

Freo fans in the Baker thread seem ok with giving up their worst first rounder for him (tied to Port or Pies), so take from that what you want. I reckon pick 18-20ish is close, with maybe a slight discount for him being out of contract bringing it to our 2nd rounder + a 3rd rounder or something similar

Much prefer zurhaah than Graham.

At least zurhaah has some beastly power and able to kick goals .

Graham a plodder mid who can't even average 20 touches a game .
Graham doesnt really play mid usually, hes off HFF or something most of the time, works hard at least. If he unlocks the ability to get Baker cheap with some FA trickery though he would be worth it

Now I know why we kept #17 free again this year…
Busslinger winning Auskicker of the Year led to Joel Selwood befriending him and making him convert to Geelong from the Eagles lol.

So apparently we’re taking an interest in Jack Graham. Oh great, just what we need… 🙄

Hes not primarily a midfielder, he plays on a flank in a Richmond side thats never been big on disposals even in their good years. Hes only getting some(not a lot) mid minutes this year because Hopper and Taranto are out, same as Baker

Slightly overs, but we dont have much (any) quality in that age bracket.

Maybe pick 16 for baker and richmonds 2nd or 3rd pick in return

Standard behaviour. They are trying to talk up the value of an out of contract Victorian based players who has flagged a move to an interstate club. They think it affects the perception of the clubs involved in the trade about what the player is worth.

If Baker was at a WA club, was out of contract and had flagged he wanted to go back to Victoria they would be saying he is only worth pick 50 and we better just take it if we are lucky enough to offered that because if we don't then we are overplaying our very weak hand and end up with pick 80 instead.

Or they would say that if the deal doesn't go through then it will evidence of the complete failure and ineptitude of the WA club and that no draftee will ever put their hand up to go there again after this etc etc. Remember when they did that to Freo over the Hogan trade when it looked like that might not go through. They wrote article after article about how Freo might aswell just pack their tent up and fold as an AFL club if they don't give Melbourne whatever they want to get the Hogan deal over the line. They tried to play on Freo's insecurities over prior failed bids to recruit players.

Not worth the salary and list spot . We don't play gaff because he is too slow for the modern game and Graham is exactly the same he can run all day but doesn't have anything past 3rd gear .

Mraz has fractured his navicular. I don’t know the exact severity but if anything significant this is likely season over. If so he’s likely to slip to late 20s/early 30s and provided our medical diligence is done he’d be an absolute steal in that range if we’re confident his foot has healed.

Injured in your draft year? Welcome to West Coast!

Have you seen Crossley this year? Looks 40 and weighs 150kg.

We played Southport on the weekend. Bloke is done with the AFL.
I haven't seen him but if he has those stats while being that unfit, imagine what he could do when fit and back into a system. Also kicking goals too

we've done this dance a few times. Yes I know his history, people mature at different rates, Given another chance at the show, I'd hope he'd give it everything for some retribution.

Interesting Freo are mentioned here, I really don't think they need a KPD. They're pretty well stocked for KPD's, and plenty of young ones too;

  • Chapman
  • Davies
  • Pearce
  • Mcdonald
  • Cox
  • Murphy
  • Draper

Chapman isn’t a KPD and word in freo is here is more likely to end up a wingman or mid than a KPD.

Murphy got dropped from Peel to play WAFL reserves. It seems the question marks on his speed are fermenting.

Draper looks good, but he’s only a handful of games in.

Pearce is always one injury away from potential retirement.

We have a more immediate need for Busslinger than Freo, but Freo’s KPD stocks are far from a sure thing in medium-long term.

If Buss wants immediate opportunity he’d be better off coming to us, but interest from Freo is natural. Buss projects to be better than most on the list you mentioned, and has point of difference as an interceptor with genuinely good foot skills/rebounding.

Busslinger is from WA. The first amendment of the VFL Media constitution states the following- "When a WA player is OOC, both WA teams must be named as suitors."

Zurhaar is definitely more of a ‘Fools Gold’ Freo pick up.

What is he?

He’s not a key forward, he’s not really even a third tall - more a half forward? - it’s very much a ‘complimentary’ position in a good forward line these days.

He plays with aggression but also tends concede free kicks and is not an overly skilful player. Doesn’t tend to get a load of the ball and averages 1.3 goals across his career - not really bringing a major scoring impact but is capable of having good days with 4-6 goals - just not very often.

Could see him at Freo as an upgrade on Sam Sturt adding some presence across half forward. Try and keep him out of Josh Treacy’s way.
