With changing jobs, you don't lose your character level, only your vocation level.

For instance if you are at level 21 and have, say, 8 levels in the fighter class, and wish to change to sorcerer, you would stay at level 21 but have a sorcerer vocation level on 1. Additionally, you get to keep any augments you've purchased, and any weapon skills, provided your new class supports that particular weapon.

Game is really friendly to letting you experiment with different classes.

awesome...how do you change jobs? And if I chance to a sorcerer (from strider lvl 9 vocation) but later change back Strider will I change back with my lvl 9 vocation?

you can change vocation at the Gran Soren Inn, once you hit level 10 I think. Not sure about the second question because I've never changed back, but I would assume so.

I played it a fair bit, ut the resporn rate of killed enemies did my head in. Basically you clear out a area and in a short time the exact same enemies reappear at the exact locations... painful when you are trying to move some fast
