Interestingly, this new contract will take Gary to 8 years on the Gold Coast. He did 9 seasons with the Cats so it's nearly getting to the point that he is more of a Sun than he is a Cat. At the very least he should reach 100 games on the Gold Coast which will mean any future male offspring will be father-son eligible for the Suns.

I wonder if the confirmation of new training facilities has anything to do with his decision. Surely training out of tin sheds didn't appeal to him...

Bit shocked we can afford to pay a 30-31 yr old 1mllion a season.

im on the understanding Geelong, the Hawks and Sydney etc havent been paying anyone 1million during all there success.
Exc Buddys ridiculous contract which will cripple Sydney when we wants to retire at 34 and still has 4-5 years on his contract. With his salary to be included in the Cap even if he isnt playing.

Lets hope we dont get raided of players anytime soon.
Aka Dixon and Swallow since we wont be able to match other clubs offers

Well at least it sounds like Gaz has officially told the players that he's signed on to finish his career at the Suns. Strange that Bennell would announce it though haha.

So we need to get a contract for 2019- 2020 now. Top it up for Gaz to stay in some official capacity. He may however, decide to go back to Geelong for a two season farewell tour, and take up a position with them.

QLD needs him.. VIC doesn't.
