Hong Kong protests

How does it look to Taiwan though?

The Chinese government would not want to damage the prospect of future re-unification with Taiwan by being too heavy handed.

The Taiwanese are a lot more militant (country founded by facsists) than HK too. China has no intention of fighting/arguing with Taiwan imo (they won't accept any bs from them either though) and are happy to go the diplomatic route (taiwan and china are really two groups of gangsters that fought over china post WW2, Mao won and the capitalists lost - very typical for the socialist army to beat teh capitalist one, just better fighters and tougher people overall).

Taiwan is still the ground zero for WW3, but HK is like the canary in the coal mine.

Taiwan don't give a * imo.

They know they're a protectorate/client state of the military industrial complex. Same as us really.

i will be in hk in 2 days time. i do hope the roads are clear as i am on tight schedule for outbound movement into china.

youll be fine. only Admiralty (Connaught Road) and Mongkok ( Nathan road) remain blocked. MTR is running normal, and the China border is it's usual se;f.

You won't be delayed

When I saw Carrie Lam starting to cry when she said how much she loved HK and that she wouldn't do something to sell it out I thought to myself that China might have told her they could walk an army in to "keep the peace" and then never leave, and if she told anyone about that conversation then they'll have her assassinated by a protester and then march the army in to keep the peace.

And no other nation will do a thing about it. Lots of talk. Nothing will happen.

Nobody will go to war to protect Hong Kong.

I can't see China intervening militarily in Hong Kong.
Even though they won't acknowledge it, the Tiananmen Massacre damaged China's global brand for decades and they won't be willing to damage it again.
They're also aware that something like that would give countries like the US an advantage in trade and global politics. When you're a global pariah then you're always going to come second in any international relations.

Got more intense after the decision to put the bill passing on delay. Locals want the bill fully abolished. Don't underestimate how much ethnic Chinese like democracy.

Protests in Taipei yesterday afternoon attracting thousands.

This could play a role in next year's presidential election in Taiwan. Could damage the Kaohsuing mayor's presidential hopes.

What were the Taipei protests concerning?

It saddens me. I love hong kong and nathan road holds a special place in my heart.
I love Hong Kong too but I feel that the "outrage" being shown by the US and Australia is quite hypocritical. In Australia, we now have a Government that issues extradition orders at the whim of Minister Dutton and the USA ... well, it's the USA and the atrocities committed against it's citizens for being a different colour and the imposition of laws that make it nigh near impossible for particular sections of their communities to vote and now with trump demonising "dangerous ethnic minorities" and wanting to build a wall, well, it's the USA and it's civil rights and exporting of violence and terror is well documented.

People maybe are forgetting that it is Chinese territory now and China has every right to protect it's sovereignty and the truth is, maintaining Hong Kong as it is, is very important to China.

The protests now in Hong Kong smell of this "Arab Spring", "Colour Revolution" that reeked havoc and violence in those parts of the world. The absurdly named "intelligence" agencies of and in cahoots with the US ones, are fomenting civil unrest by stirring up the revolutionary zeal that young people have as a matter of course, in order to use these well intentioned but duped and manipulated students to do the dirty work of capitalists through "intelligence" agencies.

This is not conspiratorial clap trap as in the moon landing wasn't real and that the 11th of September was an "inside job". This if the modus operandi of the US going back 100 years and more. The only thing different is the technology being used.
