How many weeks for Cats Hawkins, tv have shown you up for what you did

Hawkins might have been a tad lucky, but since the MRP were never going to look at Simpkin, Langford and Hodge, it would look bad if they threw the book at Hawkins. The MRP change interpretations from week to week, and even between different games in the same round, but two different interpretations in the same game would be too shameless even for them.

Anyway, we've had a dismal run with the MRP in recent years. This is the first time the wheel of misfortune has given us a break since about 2012. We were due for some luck.

Schneider whacks a guy in the guts, he looks a little incapacitated for 20 seconds, and it's deemed low impact.

Hawkins whacks a guy in the guts, he goes off throwing up, and it's insufficient impact.
It seems I was wrong. It wasn't insufficient force, it was a sheperding action that didn't constitute a strike.

So if you shepherd and you cause a clash of heads that's bad.
If you shepherd by throwing an arm at the guy's guts that's ok, regardless of the impact or consequences.

Hawkins to get a reprimand. Hodge to get a week. Roughead to get two. Langford a week for scratching.

As if that would ever happen.
This is what should've happened- but different rules for different clubs eh?

That said- how ballaz got off for kicking and punching at shaw is beyond me.

complete rubbish- roughhead deserved at least one for his cheap shot on selwood

Nah, it's fair game to whack a Geelong player in the head. Has been for years. Can't remember the last time an opposition player has been suspended for a high hit against us.

Good decisions by the MRP for the Monday game. Tough contest, and no incident was worth a player missing a week

Completely agree. Unfortunately the MRP have also decided that comparable incidents from other matches were worthy of being cited.

Hey Rough-head , your deliberate attempt to rough up Selwood should nab you 2 weeks out of the game.
Oi Rough-head, why dont you do it to someone your own size and after you've managed to play at least one decent game when the pressure is on ?
The tv have shown the replay of your roughing up of Selwood .

Yeah... That's the odd one. Langford was forced from the ground spewing up. If that's not "forceful" contact I don't know what is. Especially given some of the weeks dished out for far less.

The only possible explanation is that Hawthorn helped the Cats out with their medical report. But you won't see any Cats fans acknowledging that any time soon...

One was a punch, one wasn't. Simple as that.

Cos it didn't happen.

Contact between Hawthorn’s Luke Hodge and Geelong’s Steve Johnson from the second quarter of Monday’s match was assessed. The ball has gone out of bounds when Hodge and Johnson come together and Hodge makes contact with Johnson to the stomach. After viewing all the available footage and receiving a medical report from the Geelong Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the force used by Hodge was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Contact between Geelong’s Tom Hawkins and Hawthorn’s Will Langford from the third quarter of Monday’s match was assessed. Geelong’s George Horlin-Smith is running with the ball and player Langford turns to chase him. Hawkins attempts to shepherd for his team-mate and makes body contact with Langford. Hawkins has an open hand when the contact is made and it was not a striking action. No further action was taken.

Where does it say anything about a medical report with the Hawkins-Langford incident? You should be thanking us for the Hodge incident though.

This is a bloody disgrace.
1. Hawkins not even cited by MRP, yet Thompson gets cited (carry over points should not be a factor as it shouldn't even be cited!!!)
2. Glass bump is only 1 week? If Jack Ziebell did it, he would have got 6 weeks.
That's not a fair comparison! Ziebell may have gotten 6 for it, but it would have been 1 for the incident itself, and 5 because you guys decided to piss off both AFL House and the MRP!

Swear there's something genetically wrong with some Cats supporters.

Every club provides a medical report on every game.

If you don't think there was more "force" in the Hawkins behind the play hit on Langford than the tummy tickle and "choke" that Hodge and SJ exchange then you're more in need of help than I thought.

Mindboggling...

Actually Hawkin's 'hit' was in play, Hodge's hit was behind the play. Also the clubs don't need to provide medical reports unless they are specifically requested to by the MRP. They requested a medical report from Geelong after Hodge's hit on Johnson but not from Hawthorn for Hawkin's open-hand on Langford. If anyone helped anyone out, it was Geelong helping Hodge.

Don't let all this boggle your mind too much.

Hawkins had an open hand, Thompson looked like he had a clenched fist. If that is the reasoning, its ridiculous because they both connected with their forehand.

It's the blind inconsistency that's the problem. Both Thompson's and Ballantyne's gut punches did little more than take the wind out of their opponents and neither left the ground for attention. Yet Hawkins effort sent Langford off for a spew. Somehow because it was deemed an open hand from Hawkins, it slides by! Now, I don't reckon any of the three should've really had a case to answer. But you either need to cite EVERY sly punch or just let the boys play.
This MRP is now a laughing stock. It would seem the supporters have a better feel for the game than those pumped up tools on the panel. It's been covered by plenty of people on this forum and elsewhere: Fyfe-2, Douglas-2???, Glass-1???, Thompson/Ballantyne-1, Hawkins-0. Forget the points - we all know what were more malicious and serious impacts.
FFS, any average footy follower (when they take away their own club bias) can see the ridiculous intent/effect differences in these citings. How the hell can the fools on the MRP get away with treating us all as idiots?

It's a little bit hard to take people in this thread seriously when they are whinging about Hodge not going for his love tap on Johnson. Wow.
