My preference would be
1. Doing a drop kick - but that's hard for a sculpator to do.
2. A mark - the one over Peter Marker would be my model
3. A handball
Come on REH: number 1 is easy - I'm sure a sculptor would find it easy to do a statue of Dodoro. He's the biggest drop kick going around right now!!!!

This article from the Rd 4 game when we played Brisbane and wore the 2004 jumper needs to be in here and update given events during the season and recently

Is the 2004 premiership team the smartest ever?
Ashley Browne April 10, 2014 11:52 AM

.....
An AFL Record feature this week that looks back at the 2004 premiers reveals that while one member of the side, half-back flanker Damien Hardwick, is now coach of Richmond, there are another seven who work as assistant coaches at AFL level.

They are: Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan (Greater Western Sydney), Brett Montgomery (Western Bulldogs), Josh Carr (Port Adelaide), Brendon Lade (Richmond), Adam Kingsley (St Kilda) and Stuart Dew (Sydney Swans). [Monty is a chance to be head coach at the Doggies and Dew at the Gold Coast]

In addition, Jarrad Schofield is coach of WAFL club Subiaco [ who won WAFL flag beat WCE affiliated East Perth], while Josh Mahoney, a former assistant coach at Melbourne, is now that club's football manager.

But it doesn’t end there. Skipper Matthew Primus and star on-baller Josh Francou both missed the Grand Final because of season-ending ACL injuries. A decade on, both also are coaching.

Alastair Clarkson and the late Dean Bailey were two of Williams' chief lieutenants on that team and both went on to become senior coaches. Bailey coached Melbourne and was an assistant at Adelaide when diagnosed with cancer late last year. He died last month. [Now add Phil Walsh to the crows]

Clarkson, with two THREE flags already and on his way to becoming one of the greats, actually finished up with Port before the Grand Final once he was appointed coach of Hawthorn.

Williams, who finished with Port midway through 2010, is now head of development at Richmond.

Mahoney believes Williams' background fostered a great environment at Port Adelaide because, "it was forced upon you as a player to understand a lot about the game. He educated players about the game and how it was played".

Dew said the 2004 team was full of smart footy brains. "We were blessed with guys who would make the right decisions on the ground. Now that there are so many coaching, that's no surprise."

Is the 2004 premiership team the smartest ever?

Bishop - worked in player welfare and in the coaches box until last year or 2012 now GM of one of local Vic Metro leagues - think Eastern Football League
Wilbur - physio at the club
Wakelin - was a board member 2007-2011 - running his pharmacy and oyster businesses
Byron - employed by the club in the community indigenous program
Gavin - running businesses plus always doing something with and for the club
Tredders - media selling Port to the SA public however he can
Toby - was in the coaches box until end of last year - now just a mentor for a couple of players
James - still playing country footy and coaching out there when not pruning or spraying the orchard
Peter - still playing a bit of footy in the bush i believe. has done the odd thing with community indigenous program

Dom - retired this year - I reckon the boss will get him doing something at Port after 12 months off
Kane - still playing
Shaun - still playing

Looks like Rucci read the above REH and has done an article on it

Nah if he read my post - which was just repeating and slightly updating the April article on Port's website he would have talked about the players turned into best coaches.

There is a Power Best 22 thread and Rucci has done the best crows side in 25 years article last week. But the 25 years is bullshit. Its 24. The crows were set up in October 1990 so that makes them 24 years old and they have played 24 seasons in the AFL 1991-2014 and Rucci is writing best crows side in 25 years. Its bullshit. He is 12 months early. Maths is not a strong point for the Plácido Domingo of South Australian footy.

maybe he meant because a club is formed well before they play … oh no that's right they were thrown together one weekend to stop Port Adelaide .. sorry my bad.

Went along to the Adelaide Oval tonight for the Reds v Victory.

Came away with a whole new appreciation of the PAFC gameday experience.

Tonight was an absolute fizzer in every department.

Flatmosphere.

Almost went but couldn't justify $30 ticket + $8.50 beers. It seemed flat on TV in the first half compared to the noise you hear thru the TV at Hindmarsh. But the game was a bit flat in the first half. missed most of 2nd half, got back in front of TV between the 2 goals, and there seemed to be a lot more atmosphere.

Confirmation of what we knew about our playing group. It might be a tough ruthless business - but the intangibles still mean something in a money hungry environment.

Ryder stands as the Power’s biggest trade win since entering the AFL in 1997. Most significant in the deal — that went to the final two hours of the 11-day trade talks — is how list manager Jason Cripps kept coach Ken Hinkley’s vow not to sacrifice a Power player.

“We wanted to keep our playing group together,” Cripps said. “They’re a very close playing group, the mateship and the spirit isn’t manufactured and the dynamic and culture of the playing group was important to keep it in tact.

Dead for the most part. Zero passion. Seemed nobody really gave a rats.

Stood on The Hill right behind the Red Army in the first half. Couldn't hear jack from them. Except for the drummer. Hated the experience so much I bolted after 70 minutes. Watched the rest of the match at the casino.

Best advertisement for the AFL since "I'd Like to See That" with John McEnroe...

Port are advertising for a Marketing Manager.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing the club’s marketing campaigns, activating the club’s strategic brand management and execution, ensuring brand consistency across all internal and external stakeholders and enhancing the brand by delivering real and unique value for all club partners.

The guys over in Bali at the moment seem to be enjoying themselves:

And with a sharp eye in October, you make out the magnetic outlines of Australian athletes, flapping about Bali's streets in thongs and board shorts that never cease to look ridiculous. I noticed some Bulldogs at a bar, and some fast-talking Port Adelaide players charging about with a hint of entitlement, which always radiates from young footballers travelling in groups.
