Michael Schumacher hurt in skiing accident, OFFICIAL UPDATE Awake, out of hospital

I couldn't imagine the feeling when he first opened his eyes and was told he'd been in hospital for 6 months.

Surely with such an injury his memory would have been impacted? Hopefully for his sake he can at the very least retain that, then focus on basic motor functions. It is however, incredible news.

and this story takes another twist.A guy was arrested this week over the theft of Schumachers medical records. He was an employee of the helicopter company that transported him from hospital. Now that guy has been found hanged in his cell.

Really the records would be hard to get

While we all wait for news of Jules, some good news (hopefully) about Michael.

Todt has visited the Schumacher family since the seven time world champion returned to his home in Switzerland after months in hospital and rehabilitation. "We may assume that Schumacher can live a relatively normal life within a short period of time," said the FIA president.

"What we can say is that he will probably never again drive a formula one car."

This is fantastic news, hard to know what he means by a normal life, but I'm certain it can only be a good thing

Man if he can walk, talk, dress himself etc and retains a good sense of who he is, his personality, after such a long coma then that is brilliant news and a good outcome.

Michael Schumacher 'is paralysed, wheelchair-bound and unable to speak' says former racing driver Philippe Streiff, who was left a quadriplegic in a crash

  • Michael Schumacher is paralysed and has memory and speech problems
  • Former Formula One champ suffered brain damage in December accident
  • He has left hospital and is now being cared for at home in Switzerland

EDIT: Ah just read this further on into the article (from Schumachers spokeswoman):

Today, Ms Kehm said Streiff's comments were 'his opinions' and she therefore did not want to comment.
She added: 'He did not have contact with us.'

What does "he did not have contact with us" mean ?
The story says this guy recently visited Schuey,so obviously he must've been in a wheelchair, struggling to speak and having memory problems at the time.

BTW why is it these so called friends of Schuey keep speaking to the media about his condition after visiting him ?
Leave it to the family to reveal things.

This almost makes me cry,

I don't care what people say, I think there are always cases out there that are going to 'beat the odds'
Technology is only advancing, and Schumi has the best treatment money can buy, I'll never lose hope of his brain being able to return to normal.
There has to be SOMETHING out there they can trial on him.

Unfortunately that article at the bottom has pretty much the same line as an earlier one, from his spokeswoman saying that not to believe everything that is written about Schumacher.

Until I see this article/report on a reputable motorsports or F1 news site, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt.

If it is true though, it is pretty amazing.
