or there may have been a fracture there that was initially difficult or impossible to diagnose at first, but inflammation and new bone growth make the diagnosis more likely with time. Initially we would make the shin splint call because the balance of probabilities pointed to it, but as time progressed without a resolution of the pain, then other diagnoses must be considered.Billings had a shin splint style injury that eventually turned into hairline fractures. Its the exact type of injury that is "well we give it another week and see how it goes". It seems your entire issue is that the club even gives an idea of time till they return on uncertain injuries.
Human beings are not machines with a usb plug to access a chip with all the medical data for analysis, we are biological organisms with inherent issues that make medicine problematic. We make a diagnosis based on probabilities, then we treat the patient as if that diagnosis is the issue requiring treatment. Most of the time we are right, but sometimes we are wrong and hopefully we are able to discern that there was a deeper issue in a very timely manner. Sometimes we just have to wait for the body to heal itself. While our club docs are brilliant, they are not infallible, not even the best specialists in the land are perfect. We rely on some very talented specialists to help ensure we are doing the absolute best for our players.
The times to recovery released by the club are not things written in stone, treat them as a best guess
