Watto looks great in that picture.
He simply has to make a stand this year IMO.

Will be interesting to see where that stand will be possible to be made?

Liam Jones talking about the forward line of himself, Hendo & Cas doesn't leave room for Watto pending injury or lack of form. Jones would have been sold that as well by the coaching group as their preferred forward line-up pre-trade.

Does that push Watto down back again or as the backup forward for the NB's biding his time?

We really need to make some use of that left boot.

In an absolute dream land where Watson kicks bags of four regularly we could put Hendo back as a swing man and let Jaksch develop while White would be depth.

KJ's injury means Watto and Whitey are fighting it out for third tall and if Watson can become a half decent intercept mark his left peg could become a huge weapon for our transition into attack. Think a spot is there for the taking.

Also think Liam Jones will not be gifted a spot.

Think it also depends on matchups. No doubt it sounds good being able to use Watto as a third tall, but in reality, he couldn't mind most of the guys White does. Think about him playing on Darling, Mayne and the like. By the same token, he'd be able to take taller opponents than White does, so not really sure what we'll do with both long term.

I'm sure Watto took on and beat Darling a couple of years ago at Subi but well put on the differences they offer. If Watto can get some agility & better bodywork into his defensive acts, then his kicking would be a major bonus, along with Sheehan and run of Buck's & Docherty.
Buckley - Jamison - Watson
Docherty - Rowe - Sheehan

I don't see Watson making it as a backman at AFL level and this would have been the reason why he is now being developed as a forward.
Does Watto need to kick bags regularly though? As long as he contributes is all that we could ask.
If he could kick 20+ in a year then he had done his job.

I feel that Watto and Casboult could work well in the same forward line.

You have 1 player who is very hard to outmark in Levi and then a guy who can kick it 65.

Does the opposition try and double team the guy who takes the big mark but his kicking can be wayward or the guy who if he gets it at half forward is in range.

Watsons elite disposal makes him more then dangerous in the forward line. Whether he's able to play one of three KPF roles without creating the forward line too top heavy is the question.

You'd think Henderson is the lock for one of the three positions. However the key is if Casboult or Watson demand the best KPD. The issue is if Henderson or Waite isn't playing forward... Casboult or Watson will struggle with the best defender.

IMO. The forward line will start with Henderson, Casboult and unfortunately Jones. If Watson creates havoc in the 2s it'll only be a matter of time before he replaces the inconsistent Jones.

That... or Casboult becomes a machine and Henderson is able to fill a position in defence.

Get Cas to mark it and Watto to run past for the kick.

Somebody is thinking. Thankfully!!!

He played as a forward against North in the NAB Challenge game in Ballarat and looked all at sea as a forward.
Fast forward a few months to the same ground and he looked completely composed as a forward.

Lead well, read the ball really well and just looked like a natural out there.
Be good to see how he goes in 2015.

I can only hope that last game he played is more indicative of what he will do up forward rather than what he did in Ballarat or the night he stuffed up so badly against Hawks with a crucial kick that changed the course of a run on we had that night. That night was torture after he already stuffed up so bad in backline earlier in match. Not many players get this chance to stay on a list by virtue of last round performance. He needs to really step up this season or I would expect he is de-listed at end of 2015. We all know his left foot kicking is a strength. He needs to add more strengths to really make it.

Played a great game forward against Freo two years ago.

Think most would agree with that. He is still young and we have turned over a lot of players in the last two off-seasons. They are probably the two main factors that have kept him in the side (though I'm not sure of contract status too).

he he. I like it.

Sheehan kicks out from behind to Casboult leading to wing/half back. He outmarks anyone and Watto follows Casboult around and positions himself ready for handball and kicks 60 metres into deep forward with Hendo or Menzel on the lead. Too easy ;)

Meh, why bother with all that? Jamison torps it to the centre and Casboult marks. Hands off to Watson who torps it through the big sticks. :D lol
