I think we need 2 specialist rucks against Collingwood especially with Oscar being in such poor form. Surprised Lohmann is playing, has been very ordinary so far,Tunstill would be a better option imo, would give us more options in the midfield. Not quite sure where Lohmann can actually play apart from maybe as a small forward. Hope they aren’t thinking of dropping McCarthy.
McCarthy's been one of our best most consistent players.

I'm still yet to get it with Lohman.

They seem to want to play him which is lost on me on what he's produced the last couple of years but maybe he just needs experience. I'm hoping.

The sub role is incredibly hard to perform in tbh.

Absolutely.

And he seems to want to try to do too much when he gets on , or gets indecisive when the real opportunities arise.

Don't want to knock young players because a lot of the time they just need the time and confidence to adjust to the tempo and the tactics.

We want to play him so there must be something there.

McCarthy has definitely been one of our best in both games imo.

And I think with Lohmann, it is as much confidence as experience.
If he was to have a break out game, o think it would propel him to a new consistent level.

I am confused, didn’t you say a couple of posts back that you think we should tank and the season is over. Therefore, if true you would be happy keeping these players in when they are stinking it up, yes
Why are you confused? One post is what I think the other is what fagan has done.

All this talk about us being slow - are we really? Starce and Wilmot down back are very quick, Answerth is no slouch either. McCluggage and Fletcher also pretty quick. Bailey, Charlie up front would be up there for quickest in the league probably. Plus Hipwood is very fast for his size.

Maybe it’s more so that our slow players are very slow - Lester, Berry, Lyons, O and I guess for an elite mid Neale isn’t that quick either.

Me wanted to see Debut.
Me don't see Debut.
Me Sad.

That’s my thinking on Kai. He’s had a couple if half games this season and looks as if he’s not sure he belongs. Needs a few full games to hopefully settle. I’d rather see that than a revolving door of the fringe players.

I must say i like this side.

Oscar crying out for help. We need to go back to 2 rucks for a while because Fort solo would struggle. It worked for Collingwood through the finals when Cameron was really struggling in the ruck.

I am hoping / assuming zorko down back. Lohman with a forward pressure role. Robertson sub as you always want a mid sub to try to change the mix if it’s not going well. I would have gone with Tunstill but oh well.

I was critical of Payne after round 1 but he gets a chance to make amends. A peak Payne is clearly in our best side, and i don’t think Gardiner plays well when he has any injury lingering over him.

Wings should be berry, fletcher, ah chee. Only the latter has done much this season and i think Sharp will get a go at some point.

Boy if Dunkley, clugga and neale play well we will look a different side. For all the teeth nashing about what to do if your best 3 mids are playing below par you don’t win much.

Speed has a lot to do with your ball transition.

You're going to look slow when you slow the game up and send high kicks down the line.

Nonetheless we lack leg speed in the midfield. You can get away with it if you're able to win the contest and move it on . Lose the contest consistently and you're cooked.

McCluggage isn’t fast.

There was an article from a couple of seasons ago, that listed each teams top 5 fastest players, from their gps data.

Robertson, Cameron and Starcevich were our 3 fastest players, but we were about average for our top 5 fast players.

I would call MccLuggage quick for sure. Very agile but doesn’t look like he has the top speed of the really fast guys. Definitely wouldn’t call him slow though.

We go in too tall and we get sliced to bits. We dont have a premium small defender so expect their smalls to kick 16 between them. Pies by 30 odd.
Yep, Pies easily by 5-6 goals; how many losses will this make in the last 3-4 years lost at the selection table.

I can only assume Fort will be sub which has never made sense to me.

Berry robertson rayner all useless last few games tunstill was almost our best player pre season and can’t get a go lyons was almost our best player last match and gets dropped he’s slow but at least gets the pill
This coach is boring
it appears there are no circumstances where Berry will be dropped under Fagan. He had 10 fairly forgettable disposals for the game against Fremantle. Lyons had 10 disposals in the LAST QUARTER and 25 for the match. Fagan’s response … drop Lyons. Berry out for Neale would have made much more sense. Play Bailey at Half Forward, McCluggage on the wing, Lyons in midfield rotations, especially because of his strong hands in the wet.

Let’s hope Berry can find a way to make a significant contribution.

Maybe the plan is to play Fort as the main Ruck and O to play a lot more time forward as a third tall.

Makes more sense than the other way around

Oscar can clunk a mark and is a pretty reliable shot for goal
I would assume both will spend chunks of time forward throughout the game.
But I still think Oscar will do the bulk of the ruck duties.
Collingwood only have a fairly short backline, so maybe trying to take advantage of that.

Fagan was in the crowd watching St.Kilda carve Collingwood up with tackle pressure, forcing turnovers, rebound and run. The commentators were explicit, Collingwood were beaten between the arcs. In light of this, you would have thought we could work Tunstill into the team at the very least.

This seems the most logical, hopefully the rain holds off tomorrow or we make a late change if it is wet

It’s so predictable by Fagan and part of the reason why I think the clubs blind loyalty to him will ultimately be detrimental to the club resulting in this period of sustained wins still without a flag. I still respect Fagan’s achievements but his in turn blind loyalty to certain players while scapegoating a select group of others is plain wrong. Berry has been awful for over 18 months and is still guaranteed games. God help us.
