I do half agree and hope this year we trade to get some 25yr+ players. The club has talked for years about spread of age, and we've clearly lost that with bock, brown, warnock, Harris, krak, hunt, murphy all gone. We have forgotten this and keep drafting kids.

Would love us to target 2 mature players and get them.

Ablett will be appearing live on some soccer video game competition on Fox Sports 4 at 7.30pm tonight. I assume he'll be playing Pendlebury, and will probably only be on for a couple of minutes.

Gary Ablett and his ruined shoulder has flown down from the Gold Coast to compete in the Melbourne event, alongside Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood), Kosta Barbarouses (Melbourne Victory) and Jamie Soward (Penrith).

The Fox Fans League Grand Final will be broadcast live at 7:30pm on Fox Sports 4. It runs for an hour and will be commentated by Simon Hill and Andy Harper with Mark Bosnich and Adam Peacock providing support

Dark days for Rodney Eade.
Swallow and O'Meara so disgruntled at there "rockstar" team mates they have threatened to look elsewhere. :/

Congratulations to Eade, the leadership group and Assistant Coaches in drawing a line in the sand in regard to behavioural issues. To directly snub a team directive speaks volumes for their ego.

Your club is to be congratulated. As Wilson said however, how were these blokes allowed to behave like this for as long as they have?

GOLD Coast has dropped Harley Bennell, Trent McKenzie and Brandon Matera for Saturday's match against Adelaide for failing to meet the club's discipline standards.

It is believed players were asked to steer clear of alcohol to concentrate on recovery in the wake of Saturday night's drought-breaking win over the Brisbane Lions.

The trio breached the directive on Sunday.

They were challenged by the leadership group on Monday before the leaders, Suns management and coaching staff agreed on the punishment.

Bennell, McKenzie and Matera will all play NEAFL this weekend before being considered for senior selection again.

Three more Suns go down with injuries

It isn’t Bennell’s first behavioural issue at the Suns. In February this year, he was disciplined for a breach of team standards.

Bennell was believed to be one of several Suns punished by the club after a night out.

It's a watershed decision for the Suns, who are already decimated by an injury list that includes Gary Ablett, Jaeger O'Meara, David Swallow, Nick Malceski and Jack Martin.

Coach Rodney Eade said it was a tough decision, but the club could not compromise the standards it had now set.

"We had clear expectations and we are extremely disappointed and frustrated that Harley, Brandon and Trent didn't meet these standards," Eade said.

"We have been encouraged that the majority of the playing group have made progress in living the attitudes and behaviours required to be an elite AFL player and team.

"However those who don't live by the team's standards will be made accountable, no matter who they are.

"The actions of Harley, Brandon and Trent will leave us incredibly bare on the field this week, but this tough decision reflects the direction our club is heading and we can't compromise that."

Acting captain Michael Rischitelli said the players fully supported the punishment.

"We all understood and agreed on the standards outlined after the game and we feel let down by Harley, Brandon and Trent," Rischitelli said.

"We expect Harley, Brandon and Trent to accept their punishment and importantly respond accordingly going forward."

I question Robbo's motivations for bringing this to light now. It think it smacks of a lack of integrity really. If he wanted to make an issue of it then he should have done so at the time. Now it just looks like a cheap shot to get back at Harley because the big man probably felt intimidated.

When it comes to criticism guys, we will stop short of judging and insulting a persons character. Remember we have friends, family and the players themselves that have to read the tripe that you guys spill. You could be well advised to construct your posts in a more diplomatic way.

censorship. News on Mainstream, covered up on BF GC section. That's the way, protect the guilty, shoot the messenger.

Ban me, I don't give a shove.

The problem is not you spreading the 'news'. The problem is the personal insults that come with it. The constructive criticism and ideals of what you think should be done with players are great. The personal insults that cross the line are what gets you in strife.

Goes for everyone. Think of how you would feel if you read about your football playing child being called names by someone who does not know the full story.

just remember the suns senior player group decided the out come of the team no drinking on a 6 day game turn around.
