I think they have every right to whinge. Why should they be punished for taking on a player that wanted out when according to the afl it's all about the "poor players and the club that has single handedly bought the afl in to disrepute is allowed to "top up"

It just doesn't make sense that they are rewarded

They took a gamble that it would work out and it didn't.
The only reason * get top ups is so they can field a team to keep the TV rights deal rolling.

Essendon arent getting top ups because their players are suspended, they're getting top-ups because they don't have any more rookies to elevate.

Except that may help them/ease don in the future. Ie: their rookies getting experience before they normally would
The top ups will only help them get thru this season. They aren't going to help essendons future progress too much
