This is just a bit of fun for a midweek afternoon. The Fremantle 25 since 95 was selected in 2019. It was as follows:

Half-backs: Michael Johnson, Luke McPharlin, Dale Kickett
Centre: Stephen Hill, David Mundy, Shaun McManus
Half-Forwards: Michael Walters, Matthew Pavlich, Clive Waterhouse
Forwards: Jeff Farmer, Tony Modra, Hayden Ballantyne
Ruck/followers: Aaron Sandilands, Nat Fyfe, Peter Bell
Interchange: Paul Hasleby, Lachie Neale, Troy Cook, Michael Barlow, Ryan Crowley, Justin Longmuir, Ben Allan

Four years later, who would you pick in an updated 25 to include the last few years.

I haven’t watched all these players that were in the original squad of 25, but would imagine there would be at least 3 or 4 changes if it was picked now.
Andy Brayshaw and Luke Ryan’s AA awards immediately elevate them into this company I would have thought? With Sean Darcy and Caleb Serong also rapidly closing in but probably still a good season away. Who else? Maybe Alex Pearce?
 
You can have recency bias with these things but:

Int: Darcy, Bell, Serong, Haselby

  • If Jackson and Young hang around for another 3 seasons they'll make the team.
  • Tough on Grover and Parker as both great footballers just don't think they were as athletic as Pearce.

At what point would Modra get superseded? Didn’t he only play about 60 games? Once amiss gets to 90 games or so you’d hope he will have overtaken him.

It’s a fair achievement for Luke Ryan, a pick 66 mature ager to be considered in the best freo side ever at this point

Only played 47 games for 148 goals. And the only Docker to kick 10 in a game. A talented key forward should make it with 100-150 games in purple. Amiss looks a good chance but still very early.
