Round 20 proved to be a real mix with scores ranging from one to five over the weekend. A number of tipsters selected all five games correctly with the favourites winning their games across the weekend. Freofalcon was the star this week scoring the bonus point along with picking five winners to finish with a total of six points for the round.

With Round 20 completed, that brings us to the end of the 2022 BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition. In a thrilling finish, this year has seen a tie for first place between AsterixTheGaul and Monocle who both finished the season with a total 68 points. Both AsterixTheGaul and Monocle have spent the majority of the season in the top few places on the ladder but made their move a few weeks ago to take a share of the lead with neither tipster able to be separated at the end of 20 rounds. Congratulations to both winners on taking out first place in the 2022 BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition, a fantastic effort. For winning, both AsterixTheGaul and Monocle will receive a 12 month Platinum subscription to BigFooty. Thanks to Chief, Wosh and the team here at BigFooty for their valued support and for getting behind the competition for another season, your support is very much appreciated.

In outright third place we have getgaff on 67 points who produced another fantastic season of tipping after having won the competition in 2021, congratulations on another podium finish and being one of the top tipsters in 2022. In fourth place was Kram who finished with a tally of 66 points in what was a fine tipping performance all season, well done on a great effort this year. In fifth place saw a tie between Freofalcon and gaskin who finished with a total of 65 points. Well done to both of you on claiming a top five finish this year with some great tipping throughout the season.

Well, that concludes the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition for 2022. Thank you to everyone who participated in the competition this season and I hope you all have enjoyed being part of the competition again this year. Thanks once again to Chief, Wosh and the team here at BigFooty for their ongoing support of the competition here on the WAFL Board. BigFooty's support of the competition over the past number of years has been fantastic so a special thanks once again to the team here. Even though the home and away season has finished, the finals begin this coming weekend and I'll be running a finals tipping competition for fun over the duration of the finals series. The opening post for this will go up on Wednesday or Thursday evening this week. After such a great season this year, hopefully we'll be back with a bigger and better tipping competition for the WAFL in 2023. Don't forget to also stick around over the next few weeks for our finals tipping comp but also your WAFL news in the finals along with your off-season news, player movements, pre-season information and other club news from around the WAFL as we head into the summer months after the season has finished.

Cheers!! :thumbsu:

Needless to say this would not be happening with out your tremendous effort.

Much appreciated :thumbsu:

Thanks Ljp86 for running it - it’s been fun

Well done Monocle - you have been there or there abouts all season

It’s a pity too many Freo and eagles supporters have abandoned their WAFL clubs. I still think it’s a great afternoon out. But there again I get to go to Revo which is a great day out

Not aimed at the posters in the comp - I would expected 100 posters in the WAFL tipping competition.

I have edited my point - Freo and Eagles

Hence it did not come over as I wanted

Yeah I agree, such a shame those old allegiances have died so easily in so many.

Congratulations Mon and Asterix and thanks to all for participating and making it an enjoyable comp

You the real mvp but Ljp86. Thank you again for your hard work in setting up and game analysis.

Look forward to the finals tipping comp and reading the off season news :)

The home and away season has finished for 2022 with the WAFL Finals Series to get underway. This week sees the Qualifying and Elimination finals taking place with the Qualifying Finals to take place on Saturday while the Elimination Finals will be held on Sunday. Both League matches are being telecast on TV this week so there will be two margin matches for the first week of the finals. As per the tradition for the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition, we will be tipping finals in all three grades which means there are eight points up for grabs this week.

The League finals begin with the Qualifying Final between East Fremantle and Claremont on Saturday at New Choice Homes Park. Both the Sharks and Tigers had strong home and away seasons with each side winning 13 games and it was East Fremantle's superior percentage which sees them host this match on Saturday afternoon. It's been eight years since Old Easts made the finals, a season which saw the Sharks finish third and eventually qualify for a Preliminary Final. It could or perhaps should have been a Grand Final but 7.26 (68) in the season's penultimate game ultimately cost the Sharks another appearance in the season decider. East Fremantle will definitely have a point to prove on Saturday having not played finals for some time and they'll be eager to go deep into the finals series and have a crack at making their first GF for 10 years. Claremont meanwhile have been perennial finalists for sometime now but it has been 10 years since their last premiership which ironically was against East Fremantle in the 2012 Grand Final. The Tigers came close two years ago in the COVID-19 affected 2020 season but fell short by three points in what was a classic low scoring affair. Can the Tigers redeem themselves here or will it be East Fremantle's time to shine? The telecast of this match is on Channel Seven beginning at 1:30pm with bouncedown scheduled for 1:40pm.

On Sunday, South Fremantle host Peel Thunder in the Elimination Final at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Souths found themselves in a four way battle for the top three this season and faced stiff competition before eventually falling just shy of third place and a double chance in the finals. Despite falling short of a qualifying final berth, South Fremantle have shown they are as good as the three teams in front of them, having knocked over Claremont earlier in the season and also defeating arch rival East Fremantle twice, proving they are a top quality side. The Bulldogs won the premiership two years ago in 2020 but will be desperate to win one here with their most recent flag before then in 2009. Peel Thunder enter this game as the Darkhorse of the 2022 finals series with the Thunder to be boosted by the inclusion of Fremantle's AFL listed players with numbers this week unrestricted as the Thunder's alignment partner still in the AFL finals series. Peel have shown good form of late and have steadily pushed up the ladder, sealing fifth spot with a 92 point belting of Swan Districts last Sunday. Will South Fremantle see off the charge of Peel or can the Thunder live up to their Darkhorse status and knock over the Bulldogs on Sunday? This match will no doubt be a great game with Channel Seven's telecast to get underway at 12pm with bouncedown scheduled for 12:10pm.

In the Reserves, the Qualifying Final will take place on Saturday with Claremont facing South Fremantle at New Choice Homes Park. Claremont have spent vast amounts of season 2022 inside the top two places on the ladder and it was only in the final few rounds that they dropped out of top spot, eventually finishing second with a 12-4 record. The Tigers face South Fremantle whose win in Round 20 saw them move into third place courtesy of Subiaco's loss to West Perth which saw the Bulldogs claim a double chance in the finals with an 11-5 record. This looks a good game on Saturday and should prove to be an entertaining match before the League game in the afternoon with this match beginning at 11am. The Elimination Final on Sunday sees Subiaco taking on Swan Districts at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Subiaco spent a good portion of the season inside the top three but a last round loss to West Perth, coupled with South Fremantle's win saw the Lions fall to fourth place and into the Elimination Final. The Lions' opponent on Sunday is Swan Districts who did it the hard way to make it to this game. Swans have spent most of the season in and out of the top five but won four of their last five games to seal a finals berth in the Reserves having won seven and lost nine matches. This game is the early game on Sunday with bouncedown at 9:30am.

In the Colts, Peel Thunder battle Subiaco in the Qualifying Final on Saturday at New Choices Homes Park. Peel Thunder have performed well in the Colts competition this season and come into the finals series having won seven consecutive matches which saw them secure second place on the ladder after having been 5-4 at the halfway point of the season before finishing at 12-4. Subiaco meanwhile have also shown good form as well and secured third place with a 10-6 win/loss record, taking third place from East Perth on percentage. This match is sure to be a belter and begins the day on Saturday with an 8:30am start. The Elimination Final sees East Perth locking horns with South Fremantle on Sunday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. The Royals have had a reasonable season to date, winning 10 games and losing six but saw them just fall short of a qualifying final berth on percentage from Subiaco and will no doubt be looking to hopefully progress to the second week of the finals. The Royals do however need to get past South Fremantle who finished fifth with an 8-8 record. The Bulldogs lost four of their last five games and could have perhaps finished a bit higher but did enough in the end to claim fifth spot and earn the right to take on East Perth. This match is the last game of the weekend with a 3pm start on Sunday afternoon.

The weather on the weekend is looking pretty good with both Saturday predicted to be mostly sunny and Sunday set to be partly cloudy with maximums of 22 degrees on both days. Both days should be perfect for football so hopefully we'll see some good crowds around on both days.

Well, the finals are here and there are a number of good games on the horizon in the first week of the finals. The weather is set to be excellent so hopefully we'll see some super games of footy over the weekend to see who'll be facing off in the semi finals next weekend. Happy tipping!!
