"Many players are envious of Adam Goodes for many reasons. We hope that his protected species status ends when he comes over the white line," Matthews said in Brisbane.

who said it's racist?Playing the non-existant race card?
Hooper, Proud and Corrie are in our team, and from memory, Hooper got a 3 weeks suspension last year for an incident that wasn't entirely caught on video.
I think Matthews is simply saying that Goodes is a protected species among the umpires and the tribunal, for whatever reason. I severely doubt that it is anything racist, and to even attempt to imply that is simply garbage.

Explain the cultural insensitivity...
I'm still unsure, hence the question mark in my opening sentence.
LINDA BURNEY remembers her childhood well - those days when she was counted among the nation's wildlife.
"This is not ancient history," says the state's first Aboriginal minister. "I was a child. It still staggers me that for the first 10 years of my life, I existed under the Flora and Fauna Act of NSW."
just jumped over from the main board where you did two posts bagging goodes, not bad you mobExplain the cultural insensitivity...

I'm not saying he's racist, I am saying he's culturally insensitive to use the phrase "protected species" in relation to an Aboriginal footballer in light of the history of Aboriginal rights:

Somedays I just shake my head at this place.
That is a gigantic stretch, at best.

Not at all, it was a poor choice of words. He should think before he speaks.

Public forum, hence I have the right on the main board to discuss my disdain for the decision.
thanks mate spot on,lets hope we stick it up emHave the balls to say it here, or don't bother. We don't need people bagging our players on the main board, then coming to our board and trying to mingle. Otherwise you're being a hypocrite.

No
The rules are different here to the main board, and everyone should know it.
What can be said on the main board cannot necessarily be said here, as this is a more protected environment.
Opposition posters can't come in here and say about us what they can say on the main board - and to his credit Homer Jnr knows that, and has adjusted his posting accordingly to suit this board as opposed to what he may have posted on the main board.
Precisely.
I see it on the Lions forum all the time, and know to try and be polite and respectful away from there.
I thought I stated that I disagreed with the fact that Goodes is available, but thats not my decision to make.
Tough crowd around here.

We're a protected species![]()

I like to think of myself as the tribunal and I believe I conduct myself accordingly.
That is to say, Sydney posters get a free ride for things other clubs posters would get rubbed out for
Just like the AFL tribunal you see![]()
