well,
good news for us, not sure how Lake has gone on Lloyd in the past but it would have been much more of a challenge than Gehrig was last week
bad news for the game because Lloyd is one of the best forwards ive ever seen

but certainly don't count yourselves out!! knowing us..

Surely Ryder has to get a go up forward, even with a half-decent supply he will be able to cause HUGE problems for the Dogs' defense

watson is not a forward mate.....Ryder in the ruck and hillie up forward
Can you show me where I said he was a forward... No, because I never said that. I said he will push forward. There is a difference. If he plays on Cross and he pushes forward, he will pull Cross out of the game as well as becoming another target up forward. At worst, he will drag whoever is on him out of the game.

Tayte Pears to debut!

I can't see why we would play both Slattery and Pev. I expect (really, it's hope) that Pears or Johns will come into the team for one of them and Ryder will play Ruck or Forward.

Actually, maybe he will do that even if there are no late changes. The Bulldogs forwards are not the tallest in the world so he might not be needed down there. Slattery can play down back. Ryder can then Ruck and that would give Laycock the responsibility down forward (he can be a good mark at times) as he is a better kick than Hille and less useful around the ground.

I'm not actually worried about missing Lloyd to be honest. I think it will cause a bit of confusion for the doggies (like how no Lucas helped us in a way against North) and will put the responsibility on some of the others to stand up; something I think will bring their best out.

I can't work out who Pev is going to tag though. He's just not good enough for Cooney I don't think. Or Cross. And those are the guys I'm most worried about.

Other way around for me. Hille has been one of the better ruckman in the AFL early this year while Ryder's physical attributes and contested marks make me excited if he gets a chnce up forward.

Shattered that Lloyd isnt playing. Lucas/Lloyd out would have been perfect for Neagle and Gumbleton to come in. Forward line looks very weak especially compared to the lofty standards our forward line generally has. Surely another tall will be brought in. If Neagle doesnt play.......dare i say that Johns should be given a chance. Fortunately the Doggies arent an exceptionally big team. Should be close for the majority of the game. Not as confident now though knowing Lloyd is out:(

I think its time we saw a team without Lloyd and Lucas in it. Lets face it, both of them spend far too much time acting out there. If I were an opposition supporter I'd think they were in the running for an Oscar at times.

Its time we bought in the kids like Darcy Daniher and saw what the future is like, not live in the 90's and stage for frees.....

Bring on the Dogs

I agree, we need pace against the dogs and not acting.
We will be a better team with out Lloyd.

Does anyone know when Gumbleton will play?

Yes, but it would be nice to see their replacements too.

Acting? You do mean playing right? They dont act. They play like real footballers

You sure you arent an opposition supporter?

We bring them in when they are good and ready. Theres no point bringing unfit players in.

Bring on the Dogs
Finally, we agree on something

Your listed team is Carlton, what's with the "we"?

I'd like to see McVeigh on Johnson, Mal on Minson and Fletch/Ryder on the next tall. That frees up one of Fletch and Ryder to go forward/ruck.

Perhaps with Nash on Murphy we might even have enough for Fletch loose and Ryder up forward.

Not very confident though.

Donsman4eva,

A couple of points. Lloyd has been a great servant of the club, but he's body isn't up to it anymore. He dives far too much for my liking and that is reflected in his inability to kick the big bags he use to. He needs to attack the man and the ball more and not play for the frees.

The only way to get the kids ready is to play them. Lucas and Lloyd are close to there ends, we need to throw out a challenge if we will be successfull under knights.

I want to see real men out there playing, busting packs like Brown, not skirts playing for frees!

Yeah, it is the only way to get them ready. But are they playing? NO!! They are injured, so there is no point having a bitch about Lloyd and Lucas being old and being actors when there is no one who is fit to replace them.

And when was the last time before that?

He used to do it week in, week out. That was when we were a powerhouse of the league. Now he's lucky if he does it twice a year.

When was the last time he kicked 100 in a year?

2000 and 2001 he kicked over 100 goals and we played in two grand finals for a premiership.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out the connection...

With Gumbles, Lloyd, Lucas, Neagle all out of the senior side, if Johns Can't get a game now he shouldn't be on our list. He should have been traded or delisted.

Slattery into the side is a terrible decision given that he's been woeful in his 2 senior games to date and Pev is in the side to do the same thing as him.

Dissapointed not to see Johns get a chance.

When as the last time anyone kicked 100 in a year? That point is moot with the way footy is played these days.

Not only that. Last year Lloyd come off a season long injury. Any footballer will tell you it takes at least half a season to play with any confidence on a bad injury, let alone perform at your best. Lloyds second half of the season was as good if not better than every other forward in the league.

Secondly, his form this year was ahead of where he expected it to be. He stated he would not hit peak form or fitness until round 6-8, due to his interupted preseason.

Lloyd is far from a spent force.
