Would be interested to hear people's thoughts on who wll take over from Adam Simpson as Captain and when you think this is likely to occur.

Actually, I think Co-Captains is a wonderful idea...

To alternate, Harding, Watt and Hale will provide the inspirations which is needed.. Nothing better than leading by example...

You would have to give to Boomer for a least a couple of years. He deserves it.

Boomer has been a superstar but he is also 31 next year. In my opinion it might not be the best thing for him to focus on in the last couple of years of his career just from an added pressure point of view if his form drops off at some point.

I'm confident it will be Spud (next year), but I have really come around to giving it to Boomer.

He wants it (badly), he is clearly our best player and his leadership growth over the past three years has been amazing. On the field, on the track - he is vocal and a true leader.

Give it to Boomer for two years.

Spot on Zebs..........no one deserves it more, and no one else is better prepared for the role.

The club, Arch, already find Firrto to have leadership qualities, hence the number 11 guernsey.

I think that just about says it all.

One out of left field, how about Jesse Smith. I know he has some injury concerns and is still young but his poise, professionalism and love for the club makes him worth considering.

Any thoughts as to whether Simmo will bow out of the game as captain or whether he will play on after stepping down from being Captain?

They way I see it hapening is at the end of this year or maybe next he will hand it over and then play on for 2 more years to help ease the captain in.

If Jesse can have a good year this year he would certainly be thought about I would think. I think Hamish is in a similar boat. If Simmo goes on for another year I think it will help both of their chances immensely

He turns 33 at the beginning of next year so based on the average age that careers end I would have thought making it to 34 and still playing would be a massive acheivement.

It wouldnt shock me if he retired at the end of this season but I do think he is capable of 2 more after this one, but that is based more on gut feeling than anything.

Any thoughts as to whether Simmo will bow out of the game ..............

Simmo gives me every impression of a bloke that can play 350 games.

He is certainly still a good contributor.

I have always believed that when the junior midfield steps up, he could comfortably swing into defence.

Personally I'd like to see a change at the end of this year, and unless somebody else puts their hand up I'd probably be tapping Boomer on the shoulder for a couple of years. Simmo is still playing well but it's probably time to start planning for the next few years.

That possibility is there. However it's reliant on the rest of the team improving IMO. If we start heading southwards with our form over the next couple of years then I think a player like Adam might get nudged out the door earlier.

Simmo will most likely step down at years end and Boomer would/should step into the role for 2 years then hand it to Smith... Bookmark it

Boomer for 2 years then Smith.

It's time for a transition of the captaincy towards flashy match winners who inspire their team mates with a love of the club and a solid media persona.

Spud is a phenomenal clubman and a fantastic player, and would make a great captain. However, it's time we get someone who can also sell the club, too.

Simpson to hand it over at the end of this year to Boomah for 2 years.

Then either Spud or Petrie, they handle the media really well + look ready made for the job and will be around 26-27 which is great timing.

Simmo will hand over the captaincy at the end of the year, play 2009 and then retire I reckon.

He was awesome last year and is still a massive for us now, but time will catch up quick and he won't want to limp out.

Of course, his thinking may be affected by how close we are to a flag at the end of next year
