If you had to pick one and lose the other in a trade, who would it be? Not long ago I would have kept Kennelly but I think I would now rather have Bolton (Craig). Although Kennelly is a incredible player to watch and has that burst of speed and lifts the whole backline; Bolton has just become too valuble IMO. His effort on the weekend was awesome and he can shut some big players down.

Just interested in your thoughts.

I couldnt imagine the team without either of them.

Can someone source the stat of our win-loss record without Kennelly?

I'll bet you find he is the most important player we have.

But we don't have comparable win-loss records for the team without Craig Bolton since he's only missed one game in yonks. Similarly with Goodes. Maybe if one or other of those was missing, we'd lose every game.

We therefore have no way of using stats like that to determine who is the most important.

CB is our most important player structurally, Tiger is our most important in terms of game-plan. It's a toughie, probably Bolts just.

Fair call.

I just find it very interesting that we hardly ever win (maybe once?) without the Irishman.

We won more games than we lost (just) last year and Kennelly was missing on and off for half the season. I haven't gone back and done the count of which ones he was there for but given we didn't start that well and he was there for the first 5 or so games, I suspect we must have won a handful, at least, without him.

Not disputing he is very important. Just that Bolton, Goodes, Kirk, Hall and probably O'Keefe are arguably equally as important.

We certainly beat the Hawks twice last year without him. In the first game, at the MCG, he was in the side but was injured in the first 5 minutes so had no part to play in the victory. And given that his first injury occured in round 5, I don't think he'd have played in our wins over Port and the Dogs in rounds 8 and 9.
