I also cannot fathom that if he had received a knock to his leg how he would not have felt significant discomfort. Yet he then preceded to chase somebody and his leg simply broke? Puzzling to say the least and a real disappointment. Wonder how it will affect his pre-season. Admittedly my patience is wearing thin but I am still optimistic about his playing future...

Saw the moment when courtenay got injured and god it was disappointing. I turned to the old man and said " hes ****ing done his hammy again".

Broken leg!!! what? how? why?

I am just stunned, I am in state of shock - how on gods green earth could he have broken he's leg. He is doing a fair impersonation of Samual Jackson in that movie 'Unbreakable'. I hate to be doom and gloom on this subject but I am getting pretty ****ing tired of Dempsey and Gumby breaking down all the time!

I'm scratching my head over Dempsey as well.... He must've copped a knock to his leg earlier on, you just don't fracture your leg whilst running

It could have been an earlier knock or he could have just done it running and it is quite an easy bone to break.

A lot of the time it occurs when your foot is planted and you twist.

It is a thinnish bone and usually heals very well and has no after effects like a broken Tibia.

It will still take at least 4-6 weeks to heal

The issue is how the player is after it has healed.

When you see the headline "Dempsey breaks leg" it conjures up thoughts of Nathan Brown and years of troubles.

That's why i posted the pic to easy supporters worries.

I have had a fair bit to do with fibulas and they rarely have issues with them once the bone is healed, unlike Tibias which can finish a career very easily.

Yeah no worries Merv. Just so frustrated with Dempsey and his injuries.

That a real setback for Dempsey. He is a real good talent but I don't know if he's going to have a career at AFL level. He has had the worst luck with injuries and if his horrid run with injuries continues we may have to let him go:(

I don't know how we are going to go with Hille and Fletch out. The Doggies are out of touch ATM but so are we. We to lift our work rate and skill level if we want to beat the Dogs next week. We can do this as we have done it before in this season.

Thanks for the insight Merv, doesnt make it any less frustrating but it leaves me less dejected. I'd love to actually watch an interview with one of our doctors and hear what they thought of Dempsey and Gumbleton's future, internally they are probably the two kids most highly rated, its just so damn frustrating watching them continually break down.....

Re: Dempsey - broken leg

you get a crack noise when you tear your achilles tendon.

thats my suspicion - terrible injury.

Any confirmation on this? Noone was sure at the game yesterday. Poor bastard can't take a trick. I wonder if he is eating enough dairy, seems to be a touch brittle. If not, I will personally go and by him a cow or a goat. :p

How many games has Dempsey played now? Is he eligible still for the rising star next year. I will get on him big time if he is.

The guy sitting next to me turned and said - 'I think we have a Kosi on our hands'

I couldn't help but feel the same way.

What are the odds of having a player requiring 10 years to play his 100th - much in the same light as Wallis.

I don't wanna think about. it. Trouble is withGumby also, we have two of them. I guess we can just hope to god their fortunes change next season. I will be like having two great new recruits when they manage to put a few together.

Laycock will have to lift
Bellchambers gets some game time:thumbsu:
Possibly Ryder to get some hit outs?
Hopefully we don't have to use Ryder in ruck..

Laycock has played his best games when Hille has been out of the team.

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays big games against Hudson and King.

i think the fact that knighta kept hille on with a broken hand sums up how he feels about lazycock... but this season is gone so hopefully all these guys can get right ready for a big preseason and assualt in 09..

dempsey and gumby... hmmm it is worrying when a guy can't string 2 games together.. maybe a sign of a problem.. either with them or our training program..
