Farren Ray has requested to be traded from the Bulldogs. Annoyed he wasn't part of their finals campaign.
187cm midfielder, 75 games in 5 seasons, will turn 23 at start of next season.
Any interest?

Nope, dare say he might be involved in the Warnock trade though.

Am not interested in midfielders without superstar potential. We already have enough players similar to Ray, but better in Knights, Vince, Van Berlo etc.

Of course there would be interest, however how much would he cost?

If he cost a first round pick – no thanks but if we could pick him up on the cheap with a trade for someone like Jericho or McGregor (yes bulldogs fans, i know you are being bent over) then maybe we should consider it.

But at the price the Bulldogs will be asking, we should show little to no interest at all.

He's just another smallish framed (albeit quick) outside/receiving type. I wouldn't have thought we need that. Any way, I understand one of the reasons he wants out of the Bulldogs is as much a case of homesickness for WA as it is lack of opportunity. I'd say Freo are probably in the box seat - if they want him.

Average player, to me he is no more than an AFL fringe player with reasonable skills and some 'silk' but nothing of high quality. Many better SANFL players than him so yer, pass. Not worth his high drafting that is for sure. Could be handy at a low end AFL club such as Freo.

I agree with crows98, Worth looking at him if the price is right. does have potential and is fast, our midfield does lack a bit of pace. and King Elvis you are underestimating O'keefe he is a fantastic player. close to AA this year

If we could get him at a good price, then I'd be interested. Bulldogs have an abundance of those type of players so he doesn't get that much of a go. Not worth a first rounder which is probably what they want but we do owe them one for taking Welsh off our hands.

Always thought Farren Ray was decent, Seen him a few years ago in Preseason and he really impressed me but like other have mentioned, we have plenty of those players. Seems to have just disappeared into the background though, Low draft pick maybe.

What we need is a hard bastard. Someone with arrogance ala Cousins, Kerr

I heard a rumour the other day the Daniel Harris may be used as trade bait, if this was the case I would seriously look at him. He is always at ground level for the hard ball and handball which besides thommo is a player we seriously lack (Please don't mention Shirley)

RoK is great, but isn't he pushing 30?

Honestly people, no. Have you actually seen him play? Sure he was a high draft pick, sure he is still young, but he is an exceptionally ordinary player.

The main reason I don’t want him is because his disposal is shocking. Do we want another midfielder with questionable disposal? For whatever reason he seems to be fascinated with kicking on his left boot and the results aren’t pretty. His right isn’t much better. Then there’s his handballing skills, or lack thereof. He always puts players under pressure because he loves to fire off short little handballs to stationary players, and he always puts them in the path of an oncoming tackler.

He can find the ball but he isn’t overly quick, has no awareness, average disposal, and he is exactly what we DO NOT need.

I'd be interested, but wouldn't give too much up to get him. I actually don't mind him too much as a player, hasn't done much at the Dogs but unlike many I think he actually does have a fair bit of upside. Having said that after being at the Hawks/Dogs Qulaifying final this year he was absolutely woeful and if that's how he plays under pressure he won't add a hell of a lot.

IMO, he you could get him with a 2nd round pick + one of our depth players than he would be worth a punt

Ray can play HB, Wing or an outside midfielder, he has the capability to run lines and a change of scene may bring the best out of him

lets remember, there was limited interest in Medhurst when he left Freo, now he is an AA

I would not write Ray of just yet, I would not sell our soul to recruit him

however the WB would obviously want more

Here's what I'd do:

Trade Dangerfield and Mackay for Ray. We could really do with the flexibility of having someone who can kick with both feet.

Package Knights and Reilly for Egan. We need pace! :thumbsu:

Trade our first round pick for Scott West. He's still got a year left in him, doesn't he? I think he's got one good knee still.

Re-sign Jericho, give McGregor another year, and delist Tippett. Didn't do enough for my liking.

After all those moves, we have all the tools required for premiership success in 2009!

I don't believe anyone has suggested that we pay a high price for Ray

However IMO he is worth a punt at the right price

Griffin for Spida Everitt? I reckon he'd come out of retirement if we offer him mega $

Sounds like he'd fit in at Adelaide like a glove. Sign him up :thumbsu:
